As an American that's been to most of the big places, I would say either Hawaii for scuba diving, or Alaska for hiking/camping/hunting. Seattle or San Fransisco would also be cool.

From that list, LA. I'm a film fan, so it just makes sense to go there more so than the other places.

Personally however, pittsburgh. Particularly, a certain mall known for it's shambling, mindless occupants...

The Hawaiian islands seem like the most exotic area, so I'd go there. Would be pretty cool to see those volcanoes, and I hear they have good golf courses there.

New York, New York!

I've been to a number of places in the USA, but never New York City. I live in London, so I suppose the draw for me are the similarities. I'd do Broadway, Off-Broadway, the food, ride the subway, visit Central Park, walk around in my huge-ass sunglasses and my very proper accent and pretend to be famous.

That, and the fact it's fairly cheap to visit, and close enough (despite being an entire Ocean away) to do in a long weekend.

Y'know what? I'm gonna go Expedia up some prices right now.

Don't forget to pretend like no one else exists. Avoid making eye contact and never smile at or initiate small talk with a stranger.

Other than the obvious foods (pizza, bagels, etc) I recommend trying birch beer (a soda, not a beer), and diner breakfast (it's sort of like classic British breakfast, except without all the gross stuff made from blood or organs). Diner breakfasts are best enjoyed after 2am, with friends.

Did you miss the bit about me living in London? :p The most contact I've ever had with a stranger is elbowing them in the ribs whilst diving for a cab.

I'd like to visit Chicago, I hear it's got some really interesting architecture, and we've been studying the Chicago school of sociologists in uni, so I'd like to see the city that inspired them. Also, it was the city of Al Capone! So much history :)

That depends.

Which State is closest to Canada? :D

[sub]New York, I suppose. Seems like the 'safest' choice.[/sub]
My friend got mugged in New York... Might want to reconcider.
Believe it or not, muggings are not a phenomenon unique to New York. Additionally, it is entirely possible to go on a vacation there and not get mugged, as I recently did.

I really doubt I'll be visiting the USA any time soon. Nothing personal, it's partly because I hate travelling and abhor long travels (so flying over the entire fucking ocean would be like a torture session) and partly because I hate the USA. Just joking about the last part, I merely don't find it as interesting and as worthy to bother with as other people do, I guess. No hard feelings.

But out of these locations, let's see:

New York City, NY - what would I do there? Stare at the Statue of Liberty? Meh, no.
Los Angeles, CA - No, not really.
Vegas, NV - Bah, whatever.
Miami, FL - Maybe but that's based on the heat and the beaches there. Something I can acquire without travelling thousands of kilometres.
Orlando, FL - seriously, what is there to see? Why should I visit? I really don't know.
San Francisco, CA - meh, big city, whatever.
Hawaiian Islands, HI - yeah, possibly the most likely location out of these.
Yellowstone National Park, WY (mostly) - the second or third most likely. Although...travelling thousands of kilometres for a national park? Ugh, that would make my trip even worse.

I've never been to London, sadly. However the NY area is seen as being peculiar for its "rudeness". Personally, strangers taking any sort of interest in my business creeps me the fuck out.

I would want to go to the Comic-con so the means San-Fransisco for me. I am a Ontarian so New York would be the easiest for me however.

Disney World/Universal?

Seriously, you've never heard of Disney World? It's only the most visited theme park IN THE WORLD.

My friend got mugged in New York... Might want to reconsider.
That's not exactly a large enough pool of people to be considered helpful.

Also, not on the list, but I'd recommend checking out the D.C. area. It is our capital after all.

Yeah, London pretty much has the unspoken rule trinity of No Talking, No Eye Contact and No Need to Apologise. You can tell a tourist by how much they disregard those rules. And the backpacks, always the backpacks...

I'd love to check out San Francisco. I think it'd be neat.

I think the easiest solution would just be to come here to New York for New York Comic-Con.

NYC, ok I have been before but i just love that place, its so alive, so interconected, almost like a living being in its own right. If there was ever an exaple of something being more than the sum its its parts then New York City is it.

None of those cities interest me, except San Fran which I've been to. However I'd like to see Philly, New Orleans and Indianapolis as well as just drive around the centre randomly visiting places.

I'm surprised you didn't include Chicago. Though, as someone who's lived there, I can't imagine traveling internationally just for the sake of seeing it. I suppose the same could be said for any city one has inhabited for an extended period of time.

New York City, very closely followed by Yellowstone. No Grand Canyon on that list though, oversight or not enough options? The Grand Canyon would be my third choice, the wilds of inner Detroit would be very interesting to see too.

I'm from Australia if that makes any difference.
