Well, I'm Finnish, but my mom lived in Boston for years so I've visited that area and Boston several times.

So I guess I'd like to vist Yellowstone, since I already have visited New York.

HAHA! Simpletons! I live in the wonderful place known as New York! Fear my culture!

I feed on your jealousy...and pasta!

*Twists evil mustache*

No, seriously. It's pretty nice here. We have nightlife...and good food.

I've visited Massachussetts and Colorado before, Colorado just a couple of weeks ago actually, and since it was fucking awesome I'd go back there.

Australian here.

Been to Cali, was pretty decent. Want to check out Nevada/Arizona, buy an old mustang or something from one of those and then work my way across to NY.

I'm from the UK and I've been to Orlando and Vegas...good times!

So I'd go for Hawaiian islands next out of choice:).

Looks like I might be going to New York though...Damn girlfriends and their shopping holidays.

Hawaii definitely, already been to Orlando a couple of times. The other places seem more "sightseeing and shopping" locations than anything else, whereas Hawaii comes across as a "kick back and relax" place.

I definitely prefer "kick back and relax" to "SEE AND BUY ALL THE THINGS!"

This is assuming that it's a "Go on holiday" sort of question.
Hate to break it to you, but Hawaii IS just basically "sightseeing and shopping" and "SEE AND BUY ALL THE THINGS!". Sure, we have nicer beaches than most, cool trade winds, and gorgeous views of sunsets over coral reef bays, but there's a reason why tourism is called an industry here (oh, and no factories to choke out the skyline with smog and air pollution). Short of having family here or having been a frequent enough visitor to know where to go and what to see, I'm afraid it'll just be a more tropical shade of Disney Land to most first time tourists (wait, we already have one of those). That is to say if you stay on Oahu, try some of the other islands for a more well rounded experience.

Now me on the other hand, I wouldn't mind going back to Oregon for a month or so during the fall. Beautiful around that season, might even check out the Shakespeare Festival again in Ashland.

No idea really, the place is friggin' HUGE.
Maybe L.A. or Las Vegas. But I think I'd go for a longer trip if I'd go there and visit several places. But only one? I'll go fro Vegas

I've never been to the US, but I'm hoping to visit it some day in the future. Out of the listed ones I'd really like to visit New York City, just to experience the sheer size of it. I would kind of like to pay a visit to New Orleans as well, see if it's all it's cracked up to be ^^

That depends.

Which State is closest to Canada? :D

[sub]New York, I suppose. Seems like the 'safest' choice.[/sub]
what part of canada? Cuase washington is a pretty sane state and probably the sanest and safest on the Canadian border.

Anyway, Im a US, but Id always say that Pittsburgh is a nice place to visit. voted most livable city twice.in a short amount of years. and we've gotten past our steel stage and are actually a nice city. plus we have kennywood right outside it really.

In order, I want to see:

Colorado
NY
Hawaii

I love the Rockies, ever since I saw them in Canada when staying in Jasper and seeing Banff, but I would like to see the US Rockies too! NY is just where all the films and programmes are based and Hawaii is, well, ex British! And has the only US flag to include a Union Flag in the corner! :p

I've been to California already. I'd like to go back (Los Angeles/Anaheim, I guess), now that I'm not 9 years old anymore. There are so many more things to do there, yet when we went the only place we went to was Disneyland.
If you want a theme park with more and bigger rides and better food you should try Knott's Berry Farm. It's not that far away, went there when my family was visiting, well, family and I had a blast!

I'm disappointed there's no mention of my home the great state of Texas. Hell, we have great museums and cultural events. I know there's the whole image of Texas being a wasteland of inbred, ignorant hicks but that's about as accurate as saying France is just a smelly land of overly snooty, arrogant asshats in berets with a mime on every corner. Certainly you might encounter these people but the entire area is very diverse. If anything Austin has more than enough to see and do for those seeking unique experiences.

I wasn't sure what I would pick until I remembered that I just a few days ago got back from my trip to Miami. It was nice enough place.

LA, Vegas and Miami...absolutely not. Hollywood is incredibly overrated according to me sister in law and Miami and Vegas have way too much squalor. On the other hand, Chicago has even more decrepit areas but that's so severe that I'd actually want to go there for an exploration trip. Except for the gangs and shit.

But New York...somehow it always appealed to me. I'd stay away from the bad neighborhoods but overall it feels so very cosmopolitan.

I'd also like to visit some of the more liberal cities like Seattle. And of course the beautiful nature reserves like Yellowstone. Hopping from Hawaiian island to island sounds appealing as well.

I've never been that bothered about visiting the states, but if pushed I'd go for Chicago or San Francisco. For the simple reason that they look cool.

Yellowstone National Park for sure.

I don't like big cities or party-vacations, so that rules out everything else.

That being said I'd have no trouble thinking of a dozen more interesting destinations than the USA and I'd have my doubts visiting considering that as a country you guys seem pretty much a bunch of douches (not talking about individuals here).

I would like to visit some of the wide open spaces and beautiful landscapes, largely untouched by human development.

I've been to everywhere on your poll apart from Miami and Hawaii. I've also been to a lot of other places in the US you haven't mentioned. Thinking about it, as I'm only 21 I'm pretty darn well travelled.

My favourite place in America? I can't say. It really depends on your mood and what you want. I LOVED San Francisco, the city is just so different from a normal city, with such amazing scenery. It's a shame its so far away from the UK, if it was a shorter flight I would go back there as much as possible.

Florida is perfect if you want the typical tourist holiday. The parks are down right amazing, and so much fun. The weather is glorious and you always have stuff to do.

Vegas, for me wasn't that great, it's an amazing place but unless your going to gamble there's not a great deal to do there for more than a few days, and I spent a week there - death valley is close though and that is worth seeing, just so you can say you know what it feels like to be melted alive.

New York is, well New York. I don't think I could say anything more about it, apart from you need to go there. I work in London and it was amazing to see the contrast between the two. My only issue was that I spent nowhere near enough time there, and that I must go back and stay longer next time.

Yellowstone is stunning. The whole area is magnificent. The park hotels are a rip off, expensive and small - but they have a monopoly so if you want to stay you have to grudge and bear it. Is a place you need to visit if you love to see what nature is capable of at its most extreme. Lake Tahoe is also only a day or so drive away, and is such an amazingly beautiful place, the combination of the two is just stunning.

I have been to most of the typical tourist places in America, and quite a few not. There aren't many places that come to mind that I have yet to see, however there aren't any I can think of that I would not happily re-visit.
