Poll: According to my peers, PC gaming is inferior to consoles.

You see. I tried to like consoles. I really did. Thing is consoles have very specific set of games that are designed for them, just like the arcade machines. In majority it's a set of games i simply do not enjoy playing for long.
Yeah every now and then I'll fool around in a 3rd person perspective action-adventure or mash buttons in a fighter game, but I'll do it like for few hours every 4-5 months and that's enough for me.
I can't play shooters on console (because I despise the idea of aim assist and slow-paced shooters in general with Quake being a big part of my growing up), strategies simply don't work with a pad, same as MMOs or Diablo-esque ARPGs.

Consoles just work for certain type of games and appeal to certain type of gamer, I'm not that kind. If all I did was playing brawlers, action-adventure and fighting games I'd probably mostly play on console.
In the end neither is superior when it comes to just playing games. If things You enjoy work on this or another platform, embrace it, and kindly shut the fark up about other peoples choices.

(Tho I think I'll never come to terms with the way some PC-originated franchises and genres got malformed to suit the console play-style affecting my, personal enjoyment of those titles.)

Acceptable answers are:

"Apples and Oranges"
"I don't know"

Anything else is biased. PC gaming has very real advantages over console gaming, and vice versa. Personal preference completely dictates which works better for you. Anyone who says otherwise is a fanboy and doesn't realize that people have different priorities.

I have a PS3 and a PC. Honestly, I prefer my console because I feel like a controller is more natural than a mouse and keyboard. I definitely love my PC games though and I feel that the PC is still very much an amazing platform for expanding the medium.

Also, for those saying that you have to spend a lot more on a PC, let's do the math here:

New PS3 consoles are only NOW about $299
Each controller you buy is $55
Plus any other accessories you choose to bling yours out with.

My PC which can run pretty much everything for the time being and includes everything already in the box (do need to get a better graphics card soon) was about $500

It isn't that much of a price difference. Personally, I am enjoying having both because that means when I want to chill on the couch and play, I can. If I want to play games that are really old and I wouldn't have access to outside of an emulator or indie stuff, I go to my PC. Simple as that.

I don't prefer either platform, i just like games god dammit!

I admit i prefer console gaming because my laptop runs like your manoeuvring a hippo in a shower...but i have PC games.

Can't we all just get along? We are all Gamers after all, no system is better than the other, all have their ups and downs.

Hardware completely rapes all the consoles combined. As for games, PC gamers seem to get the short end of the stick a lot because developers just port things over now.

Most of console gamers are tired with PC gamers expecting everybody to pay $2000 for things to look shiny.
Mine wasn't even that much, and I maxed the thing out since I'm a software developer and use it for a server, along with gaming. You can even get an Alienware for less than $1,000.
Why would you BUY a gaming PC?
I didn't, I built it. Not all at once either. And what is wrong with that (guess I'm not getting the question)?

I paid 250? for my gaming rig and things look - as you put it in a pejorative term - "shiny"

Can I enjoy the "shiny" stuff? Nope. Graphics don't mean anything, and that is why I don't usually buy console games - because of gameplay. It can be argued that most PC gamers are ports or streamlined either way...

But I still play less for each game. 45-50? vs 60-70??

Both consoles and PC's have good points and bad points about them.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people are so defensive about their platform being 'better'. for me, its all about personal preference, and I happen to like the mouse and keyboard interface.

There shouldnt be a 'mine is superior' thing about it - consoles are good, as are computers, and as long as the games are good and you're having fun, who cares what you play them on?

It's not PC gaming that's bad, it's the PC gamers.

hurr durr master race.

Sometimes I think PC gaming would actually be useful for console commands. But that's only recently in skyrim because some quests literally refuse to start.

I have a PC, xbox 360, and PS2, and I love them all equally. The PS2 may no longer be cutting edge but it's reliable and the games are great. The 360 runs all modern games and doesn't crash or get viruses. My PC can be updated and I can use mods and older games (I bought Homeworld 2 last week).

The mouse is a better controller in shooters but sticks are very much needed for dual-stick shooters (Who would have thought?) plus I find them more comfortable but we can just plug in a pad when we play those :D Everything that you can do on a console can be done on a PC: plug it into a TV, Split Screen (you still gt some games that have this) etc.

Also technology wise, PC has and I am pretty sure will always be better, the only advantage consoles have over the PC is cost and that most games are made for consoles and work better but we can blame the industry for that.

All this doesn't mean that you shouldn't play on consoles, you still can but PCs are better for playing games on but what platform you use to game does not demean the game or you. The fact that people play games on consoles doesn't really matter when it comes to gaming. What matters is to progress the medium and have fun and to try not to be a dick to each other :p

Well, PCs ARE superior, but it doesn't make the user superior for using one.

The answer is clearly potatoes, as they are so disgusting, they loop back round into the answer to everything in life.

Also, ignore comments like that. Arguments like that please only the trolls.
WTF are you talking about, you penis-dick-cock-malegenital!? Potatoes are clearly the superior food platform. Everyone keeps saying that potatoes are dead, but potatoes have been around long before fucking carrots and will continue to be around long after.

I mean, potatoes are far more flexible, you can have them cut into pieces, mashed, as fries, as hash browns, in potato salad, and heaps more(and despite what all the idiots say it doesn't cost much to get a decent potato rig. I hear you can get them $2 for a 10pound bag.)
Carrots on the other hand are a closed food platform, which is stupid cause it means you can only really have carrots whole or cut up, and nothing else (unless you're into hacking your carrot into stuff like carrot cake or any of that other home brew type recipes).

Its because of you fag-rabbits and your stupid carrots that potatoes have been suffering lately! They're dumbing down the meals because carrots don't have the vitamin-content needed to handle higher end carbohydrates like potatoes can, but instead of developing new meals based on the superior potato platform, they keep giving us potatoe eaters crappy ports of carrot-based meals.

Not only that, but there are a ton of community-based potatoe recipes which give new flavour to old meals, none of which is available for stupid carrots. Potatoe farmers keep saying that they're growing carrots and developing new meals for carrots cause of the rampant issue of piracy among potatoe crops, but its clearly a load of bull, and most of the time the only reason people steal the meals is because of all the damn wrapping and plastic stuff they put around them to 'seal in the freshness'(freshness my ass), which ends up only getting in the way of those who bought the potatoes legitimately anyway. And you know, cause carrot piracy totally doesn't happen (hint: look up the records, the two most pirated meals both used carrots in their recipe)

Go back to your carrot farm you stupid rabbit and leave our potatoes alone!

I think it depends on what kind of gamer you are. I play to relax and to kill time, so I'm a console gamer and occasionally to socialise. My best friend plays very competitively, and he;s pretty nerdy, giving him the know-how and the will to buy a good PC and use the thing to shoot pixels.

Forgive them God, for they do not know what they speak of.

Just kidding. I'm an atheist.
hah love this.

OT: apples and oranges for the average person, but really that is quite ignorant of him to say such a thing, if you just laid down some cold hard facts in a calm manner i'm pretty sure that person would feel ashamed and regret saying as such.
I don't think so, I posted this thread to them, and this is another direct quote:
I don't care about what the internet thinks
well ignorant fucks will be ignorant, just go along enjoying your awesome games with your awesome hardware capabilities and if they don't see how close minded they are then they are just missing out on a wider range of possibilities, and hopefully in time other people will admire your setup, and maybe that person will to.

So if anyone wants to say that PC isn't a superior system they're an idiot. If anyone claims they're superior because they use a certain system they're even bigger idiots.

Now why is PC superior to consoles? Best hardware, best online capabilities, most choice when it comes to controllers, best resolution, most games and it's better at emulating old games.

Sounds like a few old school twitch gamers I know, which is a play style that got bumfucked with a pineapple when consoles became dominant...
