I don't see why people hate ads so much. They are a helpful way to learn about new products :)

For example: yesterday i saw the advert for roundtrees randoms and today i actually bought some and they were nice :)

Case and point ads = good
It just seems like 50 bucks a year should get you ad free entertainment.

Do ads really detract from the entertainment that much? I mean you aren't forced to look at them....or are you?
Well, they certainly would place ads that would be seen. Or would they?

I would tolerate ads if and only if said ads would drive down the price of Gold membership (because, if memory serves me well, Silver membership is free.) Otherwise, keep your ads in the commercials where they belong.

Wouldn't it suck if while you were in the middle of A Call Of Duty match, an add for penis enhancement popped up in the middle of your screen. XD I'd fucking go insane, Im so tired of those adds

I wouldn't call it annoying. It would get Microsoft more money so they could use it to possibly get us better games, give more funding to the people making the games, probably put more work into every system so they don't break with three red rings, more exclusives, and more fresh idea's like Project Natal.

...oh wait, It's Microsoft -.-

Weren't there ads on the dashboard already? Before NXE. Hell you could class the Inside Xbox tab advertising.

If it'll lower cost of monthly fees, I'm up for it. What's a few seconds of ads? Even if it doesn't cut down the price of Xbox Live, I don't really care because it's just a few seconds.

I couldn't care less, to be honest. Clicking through them might be annoying, but around the edges I'm not too bothered. In the past, I've used those to find new games in the arcade.

So far as the console-wars rubbish that's creeping in, I'd still rather have an Xbox, even with ads that don't reduce the price. At the end of the day, I'll have loads of games I want to play on a solid online system without worrying about specs or compatibility. I can't say the same of owning a PC or PS3.

Doesn't really bother me too much, unless it either a) interrupts games, or b) gets in the way of my theme. Ads are a fact of life -- they're in magazines, on the sides of buses, down the side of your Google search, before your movie at the cinema. You learn to tune them out pretty quickly, I find.

Now, if they, say, interrupt a TV show that I've downloaded off of Live with them? That'll pretty much guarantee I never check out the video section ever again. It's all a matter of how they're handled.

It depends. If they're pop-ups, then I would never even think of keeping my xbox linked to the net. But if it's just ads on the sides where there's free space then I wouldn't mind, besides you never know when they might leave something good up that you might have not known or remembered.

if they make ads, behind the menus in the dashboard, like a big m for mcdonalds, it wouldn't bother me, if it would slow down downloads, I will scream heresy out loud.

Just been reading CVG and it seems that Microsoft will be bringing ads to Xbox live.
There are already plenty of ads on Xbox Live. If you look at the original source [http://www.mediapost.com/publications/?fa=Articles.showArticle&art_aid=108853] of all these articles you'd see that this announcement isn't about ads at all.

Microsoft is adding Silverlight support to the Xbox 360, and Windows Mobile, in order to encourage advertisers to use it when building their ad units. It has nothing to do with new advertising, and everything to do with making Silverlight more competitive with Flash.

There are already ads on the dash...seen them for various things.
Not really a problem if ya don't click on them.

Now...if they start making ones that will show up automatically and/or interrupt what I'm doing, THEN I'll be annoyed

The best way to implement this would be to make it so you can choose to see the advertisements, and earn Gold subscriber privileges for having the ads enabled - I mean a 12 month gold subscription is worth a few cents a day, surely advertising revenue would make that up - and I'd be annoyed as a gold subscriber to see advertisements on a service I pay for.
Sure, I approve of in-game advertising like Saints Row 2 has, but that's far less obtrusive.
