Poll: Age VS Maturity

Some parents do what they can, some parents do nothing. However, in the current culture in which we live, many children who may not be popular in school can find sanctuary in an online game, where they are respected members of guilds or clans or factions. Since this is now the case for many modern children who can't find that acceptance elsewhere, parents need to be careful in how they deal with the situation.

It's important not to take something like that away from your children, but you also need to ensure that they don't become dependent on it. Unfortunately many of today's parents use video games just like the used TV: as a babysitter, and that's where most of the parental outcry comes from.

Maturity, but the two go hand in hand as with age you get in more mature experiences, increasing your maturity.

I do usually agree, but it's hilarious when you're the youngest person in the theater seeing Inglorious Basterds and people 6-10 years older than you are scratching their heads at the end of it,not knowing what the hell went on in it.

I thought the plot wasn't even THAT confusing, but according to the 20 somethings that thought TWO DIFFERENT PLOTS were one too many I was wrong.

I'm saying maturity because I play M rateed games all the time and I'm only 16 so technically i shouldn't be playing them.....but really like anyone gives a damn

I'm a bit younger than most gamers and I think I can handle the maturity of the game and respect my older, more intelligent gamer counterparts....

Maturity. I'm pretty young to be playing Halo 3 but I don't curse online or talk trash about people who aren't good at the game. (I JUST SCREAM AND CRY!!!!) jk

Maturity is one thing, but once you combine 8-year old british boy (for the sake of example, not generalization) and Saints Row....I don't care how "mature" that kid was, he will be cursing your mom out in less than 3 minutes. Someone said it earlier in the thread and I agree, truly mature children are few and far between. I don't let my kids watch me play games I dont think they should be seeing. I didn't need my sons watching me play Grand Theft Auto, so that they could learn the fine art of being assholes. That'll come natuarally, why rush it?

Kids are not adults nor are they their own guardians. It should be at the descretion of the parent or guardian to make that decision.

Even if you're a mature kid, it should be your parents ultimately approving or diaspproving the content of your gaming, reading, television, etc.

There are 11 year olds behaving like 20 year olds and there are 20 year olds behaving like 11 year olds. This applies to the real life as well, not only to online gaming.

Maturity, I once played Call of Duty 4 with a very kindly child.

Same here. He was obviously young, but he knew what he was doing, didn't complain or yell down the mic, and we generally had a good laugh.

I myself am only 15, and hate it when people group me into the age stereotype.
