So many games have been influenced in some way by the Alien films, they're one of the cornerstones of modern Sci-fi.
As for which is my favourite, I'll go with the first Alien film.

Pretty much any film/game set in the space-faring age has taken something or other from the Alien series.
My favourite is Aliens.
I don't think the films for AvP did the series justice, especially considering the Graphic Novel and Games have done such a good job.

I didn't really like the AvP movies.
They seem to have forgotten what people actually want to see; aliens fighting predators.

My favourite is Alien, just how everything it is done is perfect. Not as action packed as Aliens but I did find Alien scarier plus it made them out like they were unstoppable while in Aliens thousands were slaughtered.
Alien I think had the first awesome but scary alien and it was different to the basic far more powerful than human technology type with it's acid blood and other stuff. Gave people a different view on what aliens could be like I guess.

The Halo team themselves said they were inspired by the alien movies.
The Alien films follow a similar progression to the Terminator films. The first movie is a claustrophobic horror film; the second movie is an action thriller that increases both the threat level and the protagonists' arsenal; and the third film is a bit of a mess that seems to know what was good about the previous films but can't capture it. They're also some of the only action films with female stars in action roles. And three of the four good ones (T1, T2 and Aliens) were directed by James Cameron.

Well, obviously. They took two of the major voice actors from AvP2 and made up roles in Halo that were almost exactly the same just so they could recreate some of that effect.05rutterb said:

i've not seen many of the films, saw alien, Predator, Predator 2 and the 2 AvP films so between them i think Alien was the best though the others had their moments...some didn't have very many moments but they had a couple.

I refuse to vote because I think that it is a toss up between Alien and Aliens. They are both amazing, but for different reasons. I would have to say they are both just as good for what they are.
Well, AVP owes it's existences to AVP the games, which in turn owe their existence to the Alien skull in Predator 2, so they definately influenced each other.
Sadly, aside from Alien (my favourite), Aliens, Predator and the AVP 1 and 2 games, they all suck.
They suck harder than a supercharged Dyson.
Although AVP: Requiem was the worst, shallow gore porn that makes SAW look like Citizen Kane. Alien 3 wasn't much better, they may as well have called it the corporate meddlin' movie. The writers worked so hard to undo all the character building from the first two films, their dedication to ruining everything was really quite impressive.

The AvP movies were a joke. I liked the first 3 aliens and the 2 predator movies though. I'm so conflicted I like them all. I guess I'll have to go with Aliens for the action.
First two Aliens films were very good, the second one had more of an impact on me though so I voted for that.

My favourite would be Predator, very closely followed by Aliens. While I liked Alien as a horror film, it has to take something special for a horror film to really impress me. I hold Alien in nowhere near as a high esteem as The Thing for example, which is one of if not my all time favourite film. Therefore I chose Predator (closely followed by Aliens) because they infuse a lot of great action and dont concentrate solely on the horror aspect. Out of that list though, as far as Im concerned anything other than Alien, Aliens, Predator and Predator 2 (though you didnt put that on the list) are fucking movie disgraces.
The other reason why I like Predator more than Aliens is because Aliens are just like insects whereas the Predators are intelligent and quite honorable creatures. I really love the Human - Predator relationship the two Predator films offered, and how after all that skinning and butchering of humans, one man occasionally stands out above the rest and is the better hunter in the end, and the Predators truly respect that.
