I may be a tad biased but I do like British TV better.

There are a few American shows I watch... like Family Guy, Futurama and South Park... but that be it.

Spot the odd one out here.

One of these has atrociously predictable, lazy writing and does not belong in a list beside the other three. That's right, it's My Family.
Meh, I enjoy it, yeah it's crap compared to the rest but it gives a good giggle now and then.

considering how small our country is in comparison its surprising that we have better TV
(BRITISH)
I think the IT crowd wins it for us.

In terms of American TV I'm amused by Family Guy, South Park, Scrubs, and Friends; although, they are starting to grow tiresome. I prefer British Drama because it seems like we're content to let a story actually end. Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes were both stellar, stellar works of televisual fucking art. Watch either one all the way through and you'll agree, I'm sure.

Then we have QI, Mock The Week, Live at the Apollo, and the (IMO Better) originals of The Office, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, BBC News, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, EastEnders (I don't enjoy it, but it's the longest running soap ever, isn't it? It must be doing something right.), The IT Crowd, and more.

Not to mention we have Ridley Scott, who I swear is the best director I've known in my short 17 years of life.

Really, I think the UK trumps on this one, if only due to the normally great writing and low special effects budgets. Means we rely on our actors more.

"That is all." Was sorta meant as a statement, not literally naming every good British show :p
Though I approve of your additions. (It was just off the top of my head).
Also, Fonejacker, Facejacker, Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Only Fools And Horses, Porridge and Balls of Steel.

I hope that's sarcasm, but if it's not, you might want to learn the difference between patriotism and blind nationalism. It can literally save lives.

Yeah it was, but I saw the British office a couple times and thought it wasn't as funny. I don't really have time to watch a whole other country's tv to make an informed opinion. But I bet they never had anything as cool as the Thunder Cats!

There is a lot more similarity than difference between the two; different flavors of a similar formula. This is coming from someone who mostly watches Japanese TV.

American tv is a much larger industry, but I prefer to be patriotic and say what we have is pretty good, but people may be inclined to say british tv must suck since there arent as many shows.

I think british stand up comedians are better.

I had to go with both. My 2 favorite shows were made in each. Star trek and its subsequent spin offs, and Dr. Who, in which I am LOVING the relaunch.

I think that pretty much all Americans on the Escapist know that Scotland is part of the UK and that Scottish is the demonym for people from Scotland. Not in those exact words of course.

On Topic: I don't watch much TV but all of my favorite shows are made in the US or Canada.
That may not be entirely true... as there could be some American readers that are new to the Escapist. ;)

the new series of doctor who starring Matt Smith, one of the worst actors I?ve ever seen who is only outshined in terms of shitness by his mono-faced sidekick (also hot doesn?t equal a good actor Megan Fox is an example of this), I only watched Victory of the Daleks and those one?s with them angel?s in them but...they were an abomination.
Do you mean by this that you love David Tennant and want to have his babies so noone can ever replace the gaping hole in your heart for him, even though the new doctor/series is pretty funny and mature?
