It really depends on the anime and the quality of the dub in my opinion.. Some dubs are just plain BAD...

It depends... If the shows on Tv, I'll watch it dubbed, even if the dub is terrible...

But I usually go with subs, because I honestly hate waiting 2 to 3 years to get a dub...

I always watch the dubbed version.

Hearing one language while reading another is confusing, and some animes give the most unfair time with the captions.

And I usually tone down the volume in the subbed version so as not to get confused, and could miss music or background noise.

No, saying that only true fans of Anime watch Subs even if they don't understand them is like saying true fans of ice cream will eat Cookies-n-Cream, even if they don't like the taste.

Its not true.

I actually like both, and ill often watch an Anime in the Dub and then the Sub THEN decide which one i like better.

And if i cant understand the subtitles then i wont watch it, i like being able to understand what it is im reading.

So yesterday I was watching a dubbed version of full metal alchemist on youtube to see if i want the DVD (dont worry i support the original artist)

Also do you think that comment is correct "true fans watch subb's, even if they cant understand it"

NO that statement isn't correct. If they don't understand what is going on when they're supposed to then that destroys the impact of the plot of the show. Watch the one you can understand while still seeking out the best quality possible. If the english sucks then don't go on a rant on how the japanese dub is "Better". That can go vice versa as well.

Secondly
Where's the option for "Punch the Weeboos in the mouth"?

I feel this is Appropriate

Some anime like Ghost in the Shell I find fits the dub better. Other shows like Clannad suit Japanese better. It also depends a lot usually on which version I watch first. So I'm not against either of them in general, however, as I said, I usually prefer what I hear originally whether that be the English or Japanese version. Sometimes I might hear one version first and then find I prefer the other.

Got any good recommendations for some anime? I'm at the point where I'm hating it.

Depends on what your looking for.

Samurai 7 is a great series that has a decent amount of Action, Drama, Humor, and Some bitter sweet moments.

No fanservice either.

I mostly watch the sub because if the voice acting is bad than it's harder to tell if you can't understand them but some shows work better dubbed, like Vic Mignogna does great as edward in fullmetal alchemist and sounds 16 but sad;y the dub makes Ed sound like he barely hit puberty and do not even get me started on the Dragonball Japanese voices
the only animes I've ever watched dubbed were Devil May cry and Fullmetal alchemist, I always prefer to read and see exactly what they were saying. also subtitles tend to swear more YAY!
edit: I just watched a little bit of Gurren Lagann in english and I want to kick several characters in the face because of their overly happy voices and weird slow talking. like I said it's hard to tell if a voice actor sucks at their job if it's in a language you don't understand.

I needs more than just proper translation; the English voice actors also have to be decent actors & their voices need to match the faces & personalities. Once in a rare while, you'll get a dub that's waaay better than the original, if for no other reason that the original voices are simply ill-matched.

I prefer subbs, if their is a subbs option I'll take it. Which makes buying anime in the UK a bit of a problem. Sometimes I have to sacrifice my preference for ease and cost, however... once I'm familiar with the dubbed voices, the subbed version will seem off to me (because of acclimatisation I assume).

Watching in subs is the way to go. You pick up some of a new language passively too which is cool.

Edit: I watched Desert Punk dubbed though because his original voice didn't feel right to me. Damn, this is confusing even me XD

I don't think preferring subtitles makes anyone more of a "true fan" than someone who has only seen the dubs. Personally, I watch the subbed versions because I like the sound of japanese voice acting and dislike when things get dumbed down or changed for no good reason in the dubs. Though, they are getting better about that. Say what you want about whatever english version of an anime you feel has been butchered recently, it is no "Warriors of the Wind".
There are some dubs that I really like watching, though. For example, the english version of Read or Die TV. Anita's voice really suits her!

I'll do what I can to watch it subbed, though I don't object if I have to watch it dubbed. Only exception being Comic Party, where one particular 17 year old girl sounds like a 40 year old chain smoker.

Well there you go.

The Gokusen is a story about the Daughter of a Yakuza Boss who has recently inherited the business from her dad, all she wants is to be a teacher and get a job teaching math at a local school.
But she gets stuck with the class of delinquents.
Hilarity begins.

The Weahther an oooooold movie but still great.
look it up.

Sword of the Stranger is a movie recently done by Bones.
I saw it in theaters and loved it.

GAD Gurard.
Its hard to explain it, and its been a while since iv seen it, bit i liked it.

Option 5 - I'd watch the subs if there are no Dubs or if the Dub is TOTAL crap.

I generally stick to subbs but I find that there are better dubbs out there. I personally liked Full Metal Alchemist better dubbed along with Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z. Seriously, I think DBZ sounds retarded in Japanese.
