As for people hating all anime, they're just stupid, somewhat elitist (like that "I'll never succumb to watching anime" post I responded to earlier), or most likely trolling. I just recommend then Cowboy Bebop, since it has a superior English dub and lacks a lot of the things people hate about anime. Also the Miyazaki films since nobody can really hate them and they also lack the things people hate about anime.

Maybe they still are scared the Japanese (I've recognized many Americans 'hating' anime)? Like, WW-II style? Or it's just loving to piss people off.

Although I must say when zapping to the Anime channel, 90% of the time I see just plain shit. Seriously. The broadcast one shitty episode of a shitty show after another, and then, the good stuff like Ghost in the Shell or Elfen Lied gets a spot somewhere between 2:00 and 4:00 am. Goddamnit. Western labels don't make it easy for us to find stuff we like.

I know what you're saying. With animondays on Scifi channel (I refuse to call it Syfy) there was a good show, Gurren Lagann, and a crap show, Rave Master. Networks showing anime seem to have weird priorities.

well, when you buy beer cold or it gets cold, and then gets hot, or warm... and then you cool it again to drink it... it tastes funny. basically cold beer, then made hot, and then made cool again = skunked.

But, you see, making an anime forum would only end up in endless VS polls filled with idiots who can't spell (Oh my, a generalization) Yes, and a very annoying one at that arguing about if Ichigo would beat Sasuke, or whatever shitty mainstream anime is the big thing in 2009 and so on.

When you say media, do you mean entertainment media other than gaming (IE, not including stuff like politics and war, as appears in the media)? Because that could work. For quite a bit of today I've been thinking about a music forum, but a media one would probably be much better.

What is there to discuss about anime, really?

A lot actually: I've seen good anime threads posted in the Off-Topic section get crushed by the waves of threads that appear. So I would like for there to be another, anime-specific section.

the thing is this is a gamer site... and as far as i have seen some gamers are not too fond of anime

also the flame wars would be kind of epic given that anime entusiasts tend to be too effusive with their oppinions of "what makes an anime great"

i would use it only to express my oppinion in certain things... but probably would not talk about what i enjoy my self (i think they would kick me in the head)

That probably does sound like the best idea. Problem with specific aspects of the entertainment media other than gaming is that there isn't enough really to talk about, and usually just degenerate into vs threads as a result. Gaming is an acception because this is a gaming website, so there's usually fresh ideas available. But a media forum would work, as it would be covering enough topics to not go stale for a long time at least.

Sorry if my earlier post sounded harshly. The thing is, I can't find myself watching an anime show anyway, I hardly watch any TV shows anyway, And if I do I watch some of the better Sci Fi Shows (Like Stargate SG1 and Atlantis) or generally intriguing shows like House MD.

I wouldn't watch Anime shows same as I wouldn't watch Soap Opera's or drama series. And many, many, many genre's after that.

I'm not really in the mood for any new shows. Considering I have so many games I'm still playing, and I'm usually away anyway.

(And I was inbetween Gaming session during the time of that post, sometimes I get carried away and remember this isn't a forum where I'm yet well established)

Considering the Escapist has dipped not just its toes but its entire self into the anime community, a forum seems a logical next step. I'd never personally post on it (can't stand anime myself), but it'd be nice to clear the discussion off of other forums.

To be honest, I'm rather cool with the Scifi channel (they really call themselves Syfy at your place?) But that might be because I had only seen two anime films they showed : Cowboy Bebop and... another one I forgot the name :/ It had a weird-sounding title, only one word, but it was rather good (and obviously, science-fiction related).
