Poll: Anime Subbed or dubbed?

I don't really watch anime, but with foreign stuff in general I prefer subbed unless they can actually find good actors and the English script doesn't butcher anything.

Dubbed when it is series like Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh and subbed in more serious Animes because they mess up with the translations in dubs very often

I prefer to watch dubbed since dubbed episodes aren't as up to date as subbed I almost always watch subs.

I watch either but try for dub's so I don't have to be glued to the screen to understand whats going on. Although the only dub that I have found that completely buggs the shit out of me is Fruits Basket.

Depends on the amount of money poured into the production.

If we're talking, say, Hayao Miyazaki, then I'll go with the high-quality, genuine-actor subbing. Seriously, in Ponyo, he got Kate Blanchett to play a character.

If it's just TV shows, subbing all the way.

...There are exceptions. I tend to buy Miyazaki (he's like an Asian Pixar), so I'll watch both, and the original Japanese actors also tend to be good... or better.

Like in Spirited Away, how the GODDAMN LITTLE KID'S WHINY VOICE WAS ALWAYS FUCKING GOING in the English version.

But I do get frustrated when the subtitles get lazy and miss lots of stuff out. Elfen Lied suffers this problem a lot...

But I know what you mean about Americanised dubs, thats what I hated about the GODDAMN FUCKING KID in Spirited Away.

When the dubbed is done well its ok, but i tend to prefer subbed that way you get voices that match the character, more often than not.

I almost always go subtitled, but I do give dubbers a chance. Especially if Crispin Freeman, Wendee Lee, Johnny Yong Bosch, Kelly Mansion, or Steven Blum are in the cast.

There are a handful of anime I actually prefer dubbed, as well. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Evangelion come to mind.

I'm just wondering what people prefer when it comes to watching anime. I prefer subbed, because for whatever reason the dubbed voices have really started to get to me and especially with Charles vi Britannia's voice in the original Japanese

Generally subbed since a lot of dubs aren't that good and I play it safe (Nanoha's a great series; the dubbing, not so much), but I'm not a dub hater by any means and can enjoy a dub if the voice acting's decent, it's not censored, and not too much is lost by not having the Japanese actors (Nanoha example again: Nana Mizuki playing Fate was pretty damn important).

About 95% of the anime I watch is subbed. I just prefer it. It seems to preserve the "authenticity" of the program.

I don't watch anime, but I always prefer to watch movies in their original language, and read subtitles. Dubbed just makes it feel like a B-Movie.

I prefer Subbed for the vast majority of series. There are a handful that have excellent dubs, in which case I go for that, but otherwise it's Subs all the way.

Depends on which is better. I watch Azumanga subbed (Damn you southern accent!) and Hellsing dubbed, as it has fairly good voice actors.
