Now don't get me wrong, the Elder scrolls games are possibly my most played games of all time (that and fallout 3) but they have flaws. Im hoping that the number one thing they fix in the next installment is the voice acting. If they improve it and have more then 1 actor per race i might never wanna leave Tamriel. Well thats an exaggeration but you know :p. Anyway what do you want to see fixed?

There's nothing "wrong" with Oblivion, aside from the glitches, but pretty much every aspect of the game could be improved in some way.

I guess I'm looking forward to the combat, going off of your poll.

I agree, but to me the combat and quests in oblivion far surpassed many games at its time, while its voice acting fell very well short of average. So i guess its more of a what did you think was the worst part of oblivion thread in a sense

Anyway, I'm in agreement w/ the OP. I think improved voice acting will make the game that much more immersive and ultimately have the biggest impact. The wooden/same-ey voice acting of Oblivion took me out of the world a bit.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK that is so not true.

The story was bullshit, the main quest line was short and repetitive, the combat feels slow and weak, the voice acting is some of the worst in the AAA business, mostly because Bethesda didn't bother to hire more than 15 voice actors (four of them only had one part, and for reference, MGS2 had 31, Mass Effect had 76, hell, even Deus Ex from back in 2000 had 50). Anyway, of course the leveling system is terrible and defeats the purpose of leveling in the first place, movement feels awkward and floaty, most plot events rely on text pop ups, the character models are some of the ugliest of the generation, and I could go on.

I'm not saying the game is necessarily bad, I've dumped a few hundred hours into it myself, but there are a hell of a lot of things wrong with it.

EDIT: Also, loading screens between EVERY SINGLE AREA TRANSITION.

Magic. We need Morrowind's auto-recharging enchantments.

People don't seem to remember Oblivion was made in 2006, of course the animations were clunky and the things not up to the 2010 par, seriously it was a great game and give it some slack.

But if I had the option, more things to do... Other than quests, I want to save towns, become a bandit and hide in the hills and have people actually look for me and shizzle.

Wouldn't mind some better voice acting. Couldn't give a shit about the story though, that's not why I'm playing this game. They really need to improve the leveling system though, that was kinda crappy.

Yeeeah I suppose you're right. Although the voice acting never really bothered me, unless the same voice actor ended up talking to himself.

And then there's the times a character switches voices, like that one bum in the Thieve's Guild initiation mission who has the imperial guard voice for one line, then the old hermit voice for the next.

Oh lol, I remember that. I gave a human female beggar a gold coin, and she responds, in the voice of a male orc, "THANK YOU KIND SIR."

(fine, fine, I see your point.)

Honestly the voice acting never bothered me. Yeah, it was a little pathetic that they only used about 5 VA's for the entire game, but it never bugged me.

Going off your poll, I chose non-combat Magic, just because it seemed very lackluster in Oblivion. It never really felt like "magic." It was just a skill you used.

The way i saw it, (before OP clarified) it was a false dichotomy

The option "All of the above" was missing.
Ok, I get where you're coming from. I always considered a dichotomny to denote only two options but without "all of the above" your hand is kind of forced.

The voice acting was horrible, the dialogue didn't help much. Those would be my prime points of improvement. Stealth and combat were functional, but not great. I wouldn't mind them staying the same but they could use some work. Magic was a bit dull, but again functional. The story went flying out the window right after I exited the sewers, but I didn't care much because of the good quests. It's the quests that made the game. Dark Brotherhood, Shivering Isles, Mages Guild, Knights of the Nine, not to mention all the Deadra Shrines. The quests made me love Oblivion. If they make those just as appealing in Skyrim I'm sure I will enjoy it.

Very very true. I would love more assassination missions too. Those were fun

Don't push me to be a jack-of-all trades. Make each combat style feel unique.

well overall i would just like some more voices, rather than the same "HAULT!" or w/e, but besides that, maybe a bit more of an epic main storyline (the side quests were pretty cool enough, especially the guilds) and i'll be good to go.

I just hope they don't take themselves too seriously. Improvements are to be expected, but the quirky humour and fun of the old Elder Scrolls games needs to stay. Keep the crazy people. Keep the fun and odd assassination missions (the 'Whodunit?' mansion was still some of the most fun I've ever had in a game), and keep the sense of individuality that Morrowind had. Morrowind of course had a huge advantage in that it didn't need voice actors for most of its work, and you could give irrelevant characters frivolous flavour text.

Bethesda: Do what you want, but have fun with it.
