Yeah, it's getting a bit old. That's probably why IW have moved into Modern Warfare, so they can stop making WW2 games.

How about already dead, beaten inward with the shaft of a rusty boarding knife? The WW2 genre is way too overdone. I personally reference the last console generation (and the PC games at the time) for having Brothers in Arms, CoD, MoH, and countless other series and one-shots that all revolve around the '40s. Where can I get a WW1 game? Trenches were the shit.

They were old more than 2 years ago. I wasn't even aware of any WWII games that came out recently (well besides CoD:WaW, but I boycott all non activision CoD's after the failure that was CoD3). But, yeah. All fps areas are getting old besides modern, and that's only because I've only seen one FPS do it right so far. Seriously, no more Space Marines, no more WWII, and I never want to see any pre-WWII (seriously, the guns are so lame that any game set back then would pretty much suck).

Original settings are becoming few and far between for your Halo esque fps.

I've voted yes, yet I still find them fun when they're done correctly. I have a lot of knowledge about that part of history, and the ingenuity of the commanders and engineers of the time make for good, intelligent gameplay. The shoot'emups aren't really worth my time though (CoD WaW held my attention for about six days).

you should add a 50/50 option..because that's me...i personally have always been infatuated with the invasion of Normandy, however storming that same beach does get old after awhile...i like new concepts to WW2...Brother's In Arms: Hell's Highway...MOH:Airborne...these games had an amazing approach to it...as well as CoD:WaW...finally we play the true sides of WW2..USA vs. Japan...Russia vs. Germany...now we just need a game like these three ((possibly a mixture of them all)) to be on the Axis rather than the Allies...even play through as Japan at some parts...i know it would raise a lot of controversy, but i think it would be an amzing change of pace and i honestly think that those who realize "this is just a game, not an idea to kill all the jews and americans" will find it very fun, very interesting, and a great game all around...it's a game about shooting the other side...what do you think we play war games for anyways? or any game that involves death...kill the other side...that's always the point of them

okay sorry for my rant...in my opinion..50/50...keep making them exciting and new and interesing..they wont get boring for a long while

It's actually been a long time since I've played one, probably 2 years. They were getting really old for me, but I could probably play one again and be fine with it.

For sure they are, they've been milking the WW2 genre dry since the very first MoH. Its time for them to honestly put an end to it and just move onto the Korean War.

The only time I really see a place it can be a definite good thing anymore is an RTS game.

There are plenty already but there are enough things that I believe that can still be done with them that keeps them interesting. Take RUSE for example, I currently have high hopes for that game.

I just wish someone would start another sweet genocide filled conflict so we can have some new fun wars games.

-If the game is fun and engaging then it doesn't matter what time period it is in.
-IW didn't want to make CoD2 a WWII game. They wanted to make a modern warfare game. Activision said "Fuck you. Now go make us some money." So IW made CoD2. Eventually IW was able to make CoD4 which of course made a fuckton of money. I swore off CoD games after CoD2.. And again after WaW.

Personally I would like to see more innovation and less imitation but whatever. I am so sick of CTF, DM, and elimination games..
-Loved Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I want more of that. But this years Wolfenstein MP was garbage. Like the SP though.

Yes, they are. If people are going to keep making WWII games, they could at least do something new and different with it. It was a six year war, but all games seem to focus on the same brief period (presumably because no one cares about anything that happened before America entered the war).

It's not like there aren't new and different concepts they could explore - what about Submarine warfare? Or El Alamein? Or the Jewish and Russian resistance in the forests of Northern Europe? Or Chinese resistance to the Japanese occupation? Or a battle in Italy against Mussolini? Or a spy game where you try to blend into society and take on missions to give information to the Allies? Or where you work as a French art thief who ends up working with the French resistance to steal famous artworks before the Nazis do?

If people are going to make WWII games (and there's no stopping them) they could at least try and do it from a different angle. It's not like there's a shortage of ideas.

Though I admit I enjoyed Hell's Highway and World at War, yes, yes it is time to move on. Thankfully I think Treyarch is moving on to Vietnam, though I assume they'll just re-skin MW2 with 70's weaponry.
