I guess not, if we look at the number of WWII-themed games released every year. The last one I played - Order of War was lots of fun and pretty addictive, while Wolfenstein was a big disappointment. I think the devs should be more careful with choosing particular events of WWII for their games. Omaha and Cobra are a bit overused.

No, I'm sorry but firing an M1 Garand, MP44, or PPSh never gets old. Neither does killing Nazis. Much like killing zombies, it never gets old, ever.
That's how i feel. For some reason, i just never get sick of the games. Ever since the original "Medal of Honor" on the Ps1, every year i line up for the latest MoH game, and in more recent years the CoD games, too.

There's just something very appealing and exciting about the era.

yea but your forgetting the reason that everyone loves CoD4 is because it wasnt about ww2. its not that they arent great games. the reason why people are getting tired of them is because they all tend to look exactly like the other ww2 game. as the continuation of ww2 games, its not looking to good. with the success CoD4MW and depending on the success of MW2 the gaming industry is going to ditch ww2 for more modern war games and in about 4 yrs everyone will be tired of that and will want futuristic FPS'.

No, and anyone who thinks so is an Idiot because I guarantee everyone who said has played fuck all WWII games.
World War 2 games are great and they will continue to be, everyone just wants their Modern Weapons to shoot at extremist nutjobs. Cod4s campaign sucked in comparison to Cod and Cod2, IW made everything to linear, Treyarch being the total Idiots they are thought we wanted more of that. We want more of the open ended missions like in Cod1 and 2.

Yes, they are. If people are going to keep making WWII games, they could at least do something new and different with it. It was a six year war, but all games seem to focus on the same brief period (presumably because no one cares about anything that happened before America entered the war).

It's not like there aren't new and different concepts they could explore - what about Submarine warfare? Or El Alamein? Or the Jewish and Russian resistance in the forests of Northern Europe? Or Chinese resistance to the Japanese occupation? Or a battle in Italy against Mussolini? Or a spy game where you try to blend into society and take on missions to give information to the Allies? Or where you work as a French art thief who ends up working with the French resistance to steal famous artworks before the Nazis do?

If people are going to make WWII games (and there's no stopping them) they could at least try and do it from a different angle. It's not like there's a shortage of ideas.
im going to recomend the upcoming game, the sabator, to you because what you just described is exactly what they are doing in this game.

I'm fine with WWII games, I still think they're pretty fun, and think it's pretty unfair when good games like WaW get bashed cause of their setting.. which they did in a more dark and depressing light than previous WWII games, which doesn't make it all that much unoriginal.

Well I would like to say yes they are getting old, but this seems to be for Americans the confert food of history. You know the bad guys, you know they are bad, because they are simply evil. Since we are not them, we are good. It is simple to the point and much like childhood. We had good guys and bad guys, it was clear cut. There is no need to develop characters and such since you know the bad guy is evil because he is Nazi and will kill or whatever simply because he is a Nazi.Bloodrayne as great as the game was, was fun and enjoyable because of this. Now right now they are starting to develop for something more. I don't think they will ever leave it because of the fact it is a world so simple, where Americans kicked so much ass. The world has changed since then, and hell America hasn't really been as great ever since. Kind of why it was repeated so often.

Now it aslo is one of a safe point to jump off of to do whatever. There will probably a game where you play as a terrorist, and I bet it will be against Nazis. It will be to some controversal, some it won't. The deal is killing Nazis is so the worry of wight if a person matters won't bother in. The Nazis are evil, they will continue to do evil unless killed. It being the only way to stop them. So it doesn't matter, they are just people to kill.

Now having that idea makes it safe to kill anything then. Killing Nazi babies with there own intestines is ok, since they are Nazis. If you don't kill them, they will kill you and maybe 10,000 more. They can be killed without worrying since you are stopping them from killing more, and spread that idea. That is a nice idea, since if you fill Nazi with something else, they seem to become some bit of a person. Then other questions are asked, with Nazis you don't have that.

How bout a WW2 game from the German or Japanese or Italian perspective? Maybe throw some alternative history in there. Big things like the invasion of Japan, or the possibility of fighting in a irradiated warzone caused by German nuclear devices. Or what if the germans repelled the landins at Normandy or if the Japanese invade Hawaii. There is a lot of areas to explore with the other side of the conflict.

To my mind, the siutation with games is similar to music notes, like there's nothing more you can invent. The only option is to continue creating something worthy and distinguishing. The same with WWII games: the topic is outworn but it still remains too interesting for millions of people to simply stop producing games like that.
