I do have to get around to it sometimes. Although I doubt anyone would want my organ. They never seem to want my blood--"oh, but you were in Egypt 2 years ago--we can't take your blood!", "oh, but you are from Thailand--we can't take your blood!" When I come back to Thailand, they're like "Oh, but you spent x days in this place--we can't!"

Seriously--ph0ck you. If you don't want my blood, then I don't need to give it to you.

As for the rest of my organs..seeing as I don't want to deal with it once I die, I'll probably just donate my entire body. If they don't want it, then I'll have it cut up my some medical students. That way my family won't have to carry me out to the forest and feed me to the wolves..or drag me all the way out to our family crypt. Seriously--we're taking over like half the frikkin cemetery already. I think I'll leave some room for others.

And that is also why I personally feel that the law should be changed so that everyone is an organ donor by default. If you don't want to be one, then fine, you're being a heartless bastard but nevertheless an opt-out scheme should be available. But everyone should automatically be made a donor as soon as they reach the age of, say, 18, and then have to register to opt-out of the donor list if they have any reason for not wanting to be a donor, such as religious reasons or something. We'd have much shorter waiting lists, save thousands more lives, and it would be so much less strain on the healthcare services. Not to mention solving the problem of apathy with regards to organ donors.
The UK government were working to implement an 'opt out' programme where everyone is a donor unless they say otherwise. Kicked up a shitstorm from some people so i'm not sure if its been scrapped or not.

(and in the case of alcoholics they'd most likely end up abusing the 2nd chance given to them)
If your an alcoholic you're immediately disqualified from the liver transplant list for exactly that reason

I'm not... because of the simple fact that I'm way too apathetic to actually put in the effort to care...<.<

No, because I'm on medication that makes my organs unsuitable for donation. I can't donate blood, either.

"No, I am opposed to donating my organs"

No. I'll do it if it ever occurs that my next of kin will be paid for them, or if I could be paid a sensible fee up front in return for the expectation that salvageable organs may be harvested on death, say £500-£1000.

What excuse do I have when the English NHS is free? The "excuse" that the NHS wasted hundreds of thousands of pounds each year for going on a decade to keep a man who weighed almost a tonne alive, and to reinforce a hospital so that he could have a gastric band operation. Yes, that's a *waste*.

My mother, who suffers from lupers, rhumatoid arthritis, is offered a £100 per year drug which bears with it significant risk of liver failure and *inevitably* causes organ damage when a £3,000 blood filtration treatment stands a good chance of sending the illness into remission.

If the NHS wants anything from me, it can bloody well pay for it. End of story, no discussion, no pictures of puppy eyed patients who need my kidneys- because I don't give a shit. No money? No organs.

I am fortunate enough to possess an immune system that is apparently on loan from God, as I rarely, if ever, get sick. Even when I do, it takes me two days to shrug it off, tops. So, I figure whoever gets the organs from my mangled body might get some +50 Disease Resistance benefit off of the things.
Heh I am the same way last time I got majorly sick was about 4 or 5 years ago. I also have no allergies, which is a complete mystery because almost everyone in my family has at least some allergies. Plus I apparently have a rare blood type (I can't remember precisely what it is, but a doctor once told me it was pretty rare.) Only bad thing is my eyesight is pretty terrible so they might want to just throw my eyes away.

Of course. As has been stated already, what am I going to do with them after I've kicked it? Hell, I'd go out and donate a kidney right now if not for the chance that a family member might need it. Yay for tissue-typing.

Also, given that I intend to be stuffed and mounted as some sort of horrific centrepieceEver read The Throwback? Something like that., the removal of my innards is a benefit, if anything.

i would like to, i have a rare blood type (AB-) and a donor saved my life when i was on the table (Ruptured Appendix) and i would like to contribute back into the system which made it possible for me to be here today, whether it be organs when i die, or blood whenever i can sway my boss into letting me off for a few hours ;)

I am .
Things are so fucked up in Israel with the Orthodox Jews. because its against their faith to donate organs. so what you get is a situation that a segment of the population will recive organ transplants, but will not sign an organ donor card.
case in point : a 60 year old orthodox Jewish woman get ha lung transplant that saves her life. yet she refuses the sign the card because "one can only receive organs from non-Jews, so i cant sign the card "

man... i really don't like religions people

Hopefully they aren't Soulbound.

OT: One of the most convincing arguments I've ever seen for becoming an organ donor is this xkcd comic: http://xkcd.com/659/

Well unfortunately for me my organs would be useless to anyone else due to hemophelia like condition.
However that is not to say i wouldn't agree with turning my organs into amusing balloon animals

whether i'm dead or not is irrelevant, they're still part of me and what makes me what i am, besides i want my body to be treated with dignity and respect when i die
You say that like doctors just throw you around like an American football then proceed to chop you up with a meat cleaver and hope for the best.

EDIT: OT - Yeah, I registered a year ago after 2 years of putting it off. Was sitting on MSN on my laptop and then an advert from the NHS encouraging organ donors came on. Thought "I've been meaning to do that. Might as well do it online"

I like to officially go on the record as saying I am not human and posse no usable human organs in my physiology, or have organs/components that could be used in the human anatomy in any stretch of the imagination.

yes I clicked on "I have no organs" as my poll vote and I am sticking to that.

Absolutely, have been on the register for years and anyone who is likely to be asked knows my wishes.

Frankly, when I am dead they can chop out what they need and toss the rest in a skip. Bollocks to all this revering of the dead bullshit.

Oh, and as far as I am concerned I would tell anyone over the age of 18 who isn't on the list (barring medical conditions) to go and fuck themselves if they ever needed an organ in the future.

Seriously. If you are not a registered donor (over the age of 18 or otherwise of legal competency) and are not on the register ask yourself seriously if YOU would accept an organ if you needed one. If the answer is "yes" then wow, you are a self centred scumbag.

For those that are - carry the card if you have one and make sure that your next of kin know and are comfortable with your wishes so they don't have to struggle with decisions if the worst happens. It's the kindest thing to do for them and it is the best way to get the outcome that you intend.

I want my organs to be displayed in my families house proudly. I would also be fine if they were placed on an effigy of me.

Time for seriousness though. I haven't decided either way yet. On one hand I may be inside someone for the rest of their life, and that's creepy. On the other hand I would like to help someone with my remains.
