Anti-social? Whut? I'm not the kind of guy who runs around shooting police because "life is just a videogame". Urgh...

I believe the term you're looking for is UNsocial. Antisocial people are willfully violent and/or rude, so by this logic, there are many people who fall into both categories. Many, many people.
Unsocial people tend to be...well, I believe the term to be self-explanatory.

ANYWAY, I'm an unsocial gamer, by the definition provided. I'm a social person, but as far as games are concerned, I've always seen them as solitary activities, and I find other people to be so goddamn unreliable, that expecting them to come round to play Gears of War 2 co-op is really rather pointless. Also, if bringing friends round to play video games is the best thing I can think of that equates to a good time, then I must lead a particularly miserable existence. As for online gaming, I find random people over the internet annoying enough as it is without them killing me every 7 seconds and eliminating whatever stray thoughts my magnificent ego once had that run along the lines of: "Hey, I'm pretty good at this!"

I'm strictly a social gamer.
playing a game by myself (Exception of Fallout3) is pretty boring to me

Depends on the game but generally I prefer multiplayer. I just like the feeling of playing against/with other people as opposed to bots, it's more fun for me. Plus when you play with a group of people who aren't prepubescent idiots then it's a blast. Today I played L4D with these guys who were absolutely hilarious and actually seemed somewhat intelligent. Good players on XBL are rare but they're out there.

...My fondness for multiplayer games might have something to do with the fact that I feel more comfortable socializing online, though. I'm lame.

Depends, if any friends are online, then I play a match or two with them, but if not, I don't mind playing through a game on my own.

I believe somewhere in the middle. I often have friends over to play split screen and such, but I tend to play "offline" games over online.

I'm a social gamer, I'd much rather play with real people than A.I. Plus I love discussing games online or with friends, I kinda feel sorry for anti-social gamers, you can have much more fun with friends, but thats just my personal opinion
And you can have much more fun with friends doing things completely unrelated to video games. Most things are more enjoyable with friends, some more than others, and most more productive than hours spent sat motionlessly in front of a television screen. Like going to the move theater!

Social... games are meant to bring people together. They have been since the beginning of them in history.
Games are meant to entertain. Bringing people together is simply a fortunate side effect of SOME of them. For instance, how many people does Solitaire bring together? I could swear that that was a game...although the argument of entertainment falls rather flat on its face there from my perspective.

I voted a mixture of the two. I'm more of a social gamer now in LOTRO (as I was in DAoC and WoW). I'll spend time with my kinmates (guildmates), help strangers when they're low on power or morale, etc.

There was a time when I was very anti-social in Ultima Online. It was a rush. I had a murderer, and the works. I'd often strip my mage of armor and items, except for enough reagants to cast two spells, then run them in town, target someone's pack mule with a delayed spell, then fire another insta-cast one to kill them in two hits before the guards killed me. It was the sweetest bit of anti-social behavior I experienced. I did the same with low-levels on my murderer who wondered a little too far out of town. I was a ganker before the term "ganker" was even created and used.

But now that I've matured, I find much more enjoyment, satisfaction, and ethical comfort in helping others in any game.
I'm sure glad I didn't know you then. :p

You're a great kinmate in LotRO now, though--and a top-notch kinship leader, even if you sometimes play evil pranks. /continues to contemplate revenge

I agree... Solitare came to mind when I was making my post, and I was wondering if anyone would mention it. To me it seems that it was created to pass time when bored, or even for the type of people who ARE not very social.

Games have always had a few common trends in history: competition, fellowship, and having some damn good fun.
