Not really.

I do have a lot of people around me.
The only problem is I hate people.

Do I prefer to play games alone?
YES. Ever since I was scarred by my first experience of Xbox Live in a Halo 3 Match.

Sometimes "more" just complicates things.

As a general statement, however, I do not feel alone and am in that status most of the time.

I'm not alone, but sometimes I'd love to be. I enjoy having friends and talking to them, but there are times when even they piss me off and I want to be away. Maybe if I was alone one day a week, I'd be happy.

Le sigh.

But anyway, your post is wrong. You asked are you alone in the title, yet you're discussing loneliness.

They're different. You choose to be alone - loneliness chooses you. You can't change loneliness, you can't escape it. You can be lonely in the most crowded room, but you can't be alone there. They're different questions.

I have friends I can turn to. Sadly most of them are some way way.

Only thing that keeps me going in this country is that my best friend (such a corny phrase) lives nearby. Without her things would be grave.

Now I only feel alone but am not really lonely.

Eh. Live with an old friend from school, his brother and girlfriend. But working nights, so besides them and a few people at work, I don't see many people. Voted that it doesn't bother me, as I was more or less a hermit even when I was forced to be social haha.

I have friends, but none of them truly know what's going on...

so yes, in a sense I do feel alone.

And coincidentally, I do prefer single player games to multiplayer. But that's just because I prefer my 11 year old brother to the whiny 11 year old PC's out on the net.

It sometimes feels like it. But most of the time I know I have family or friends to rely on.

yes.

i do try and explain myself to people sometimes, but a lot of things i have to keep to myself, and so i am isolated.

no-one would really get it even if i explained it to them.
I completely know what you mean. It's so hard, and if you do tell someone, you know they're thinking you're odd and suddenly, telling someone just feels worse.

I also feel that I'm doing something wrong, though.. Like I'm not supposed to be here... I read too many books.

I used to think this until I realised I was wrong and being angsty (not saying you're being angsty, just describing myself) and when I began to open up to people my life really became a LOT better. I still hold things back like most people, but (can't believe im about to say this) you really do have to just be yourself and you will find people who you get on great with. Just maybe have to measure how much of yourself you put out there
oh, it isn't that. i'd be happy to open up to people about a few of those things, but there are some real issues behind it.

the problem is that although i would be ok with talking about it here, where i have a level of anonymity, if i tried talking about it in real life people would try to stop me doing things that i have all planned out.

for example, i don't plan on living to be older then 40. here, people seem mostly accepting of that (at least where i have mentioned it before), but if you tried to tell someone that in real life then they would be utterly horrified.
Weirdly enough, I think life ends at 40. I tihnk ocne you're older than that there's basially nothing else you can do that you couldnt do before when it was better.

I even brought that up with some of my mates and some either or agreed or disagreed, was fun to talk about though heh but I see what you mean about the rest
life doesn't end at 40 that's just stupid and ridiculous.
I think what they mean is nothing novel is going to happen to you that isn't happening to everyone. Basically, your life has played out.
its a big world there is so much to learn and do. that being said its a little stupid to think that after only 40 years you cant find some new adventure. i only wish i had more time so i could do and learn about more of the things that i am interested in. also the world is constantly in flux, constantly changing each day holds some new happening. so if your bored when your 40 its not because there isnt new things to do or see its because your a boring person.
I agree with you, but I wasn't sure if we understood how he is feeling.
yeah i understand what his saying i just think hes probably a teenager and will feel differently when hes 40 or even 20.
Yeah I am a teenager so that might play into it but I dunno as I don't feel like it's some angsty thing or anything like that, but you could be right. And it's not a little stupid or cos im boring. It could be silly but not stupid.

Hmm.. I see we have totally opposing points of view anyway so I gues it doesn't matter as it's what we each believe to be more relevant to us.

The teenage angst and general whininess coming from this thread is depressing me.

Seriously guys, learn to appreciate what you have. You might not always have it.

I think the point is that some people don't actually have anything which is why they are lonely (like the people who've moved away from family/friends, lost fiances, etc.

Y'know what? I actually did forget, and I am ashamed.
