I'm boycotting Origin, but not EA. If EA makes a game a really want I'll get it on a console. First they have to make a game I'd really want to buy though.

I'll be buying Mass Effect 3 on the Xbox 360 (I had the first two on it anyway, since I bought them long before I got my gaming PC) but after that I don't plan to buy any game that requires Origin for a looooooooooong time. Not even BF3, and from what I've seen that game is freaking awesome.

Well, not as such. I haven't bought an EA PC title in a long time, so I've no need of Origin. Now, if this was a console matter, well, then I'd have something more to add. I'm not fond of everything I've heard of the service, so I'd probably go after the available cracks that the anti-DRM crowd provide, like the heroes that they are.

Boycotting? Are you kidding? I'm not boycotting. It isn't a moral choice of some type. I'm not trying to send EA a message or anything. I'm not going to sign up for origin, buy games from it, or buy games that require it, but it isn't because I'm boycotting it. Its because it is an extremely crappy service that steals my personal data.

Why would I ever want to pay for that?

What game could ever make it reasonable for me to hand over my money to someone who wants to install spyware on my machine and steal my "license" to use their software back at any time for any reason without appeal or due process.

So to all of you talking about a boycott? I say don't avoid origin because you want to send EA a message, avoid origin because it make no sense to install that service or any game dependent on it on your machine.

It just isn't worth it.

As soon as I buy a new EA game, I immediately look for a way to bypass origin, I don't want anything to do with it.

And that's even if I buy an EA title at all. They're mostly garbage.

Not using Origin or giving money to EA for any reason. I'm glad I don't care about the Mass Effect series.

That Origin-Rage still remembers me off the steam-rage, when that platform was released.
I bet most of the guys going all-caps-rage have at least 15-20+ games on Steam.

I've yet to be given a good reason why to boycott EA or Origin.
I won't buy alot of EA Games because they're utterly garbage, but some of them are just great games, why would i miss them?

I chose nope, however in a sense I'm passively boycotting them. I can't remember the last EA game I bought, nor the next one I'd actually buy. I rented Mass Effect 1 a few years ago and thought it was kind of crap. I guess I bought Dragon Age Origins the next year and well, thought it was kind of crap and stopped playing it. I really have no interest in Mass Effect 3, and the last multiplayer game I enjoyed was TFC, so Battlefield 3 has passed me by just like Cod Blops and Cod 3. I rented Assassin's Creed when it came out and it was alright, but nothing that would invest me in the series, let alone what's now I believe three sequels in the same time period. Then the Madden thing. I don't see why they're such a powerhouse when all they do is force developers to make the same game with minor tweaks year after year. It gets old real quick.

I'm boycotting EA full stop so that of course includes Origin. Then again I wouldn't use it anyway as I'm not a PC gamer.

Boycott is too strong. It isn't a selling point, and I'd prefer to hear a definitive statement that they aren't banning people from their game accounts based on forum activity. If ME3 isn't bad, I'll probably buy it.

Of course, this presupposes that they stop trying to make every franchise they publish into Call of Duty. Cause, I could just reinstall the good CODs and play those instead.

I have only a very basic understanding of what Origin actually is. So I have no idea. Given that I'm kind of jaded with gaming as a whole right now... I guess you could say I'm "boycotting" just about every game regardless of publisher, insofar as I have very little interest in buying any new games right now, and it would take a lot to get me interested again.

I'm not boycotting just to spite those who claim its the devil incarnate. Okay that's not true but I'm not boycotting it nonetheless. "Oh derpa derpa it takes -all- your information and looks for things to incriminate you!", no they don't. Do you honestly think that EA, a massive video games publisher cares about you enough to want to get you in trouble with the law? Of course not! EA has bigger fish to fry with bigger wallets than you have. Besides, what could possibly be on your computer that is so precious to you that EA would honestly care about you having?

Sure Origin isn't my digital platform of choice mainly because of how high the prices are in the store but other than that I have no problems with the service and I haven't had my door kicked in by MI5 agents so that information they got on my computer specs didn't get anywhere.

To all those who say they won't buy anything that requires Origin : Is it the fact that its Origin and therefore evil that you don't like? Or is it that it requires you to use a piece of software to allow the game to run? If your answer is the latter you wouldn't want to buy any Steamworks games because they do pretty much the exact same thing, but you don't complain because its Valve : The infallible king of the games industry! But when EA does something they are the most evil thing to walk the earth.

Okay rant over, irritation levels have subsided.

I stopped buying EA products when they took their games away from Steam.
I'd say this just about sums up my feelings on the matter. I am a loyal Steam-ite and hate to see my beloved platform snubbed in such a way. Having said that, if EA weren't maintaining a digital monopoly I probably would have already downloaded Origin - for Star Wars: The Old Republic pre-order, for example.

Nah...I'll stick with my free gifts, 24 hour sales, 75% off random deals, black friday, christmas, summer, etc etc etc deals that Steam uses to rape consensually enter my wallet.

Damn you Origin, I'll boycott you until my dying breath if I have to. You hear me? Until my dying breath!

I don't use Origin. But I will be buying and playing Mass Effect 3 for the 360. So I'm not boycotting EA itself.
