I understand that EA is akin to Walmart and thus must be hated by the masses for destroying the industry as we know it. But they've never given me any personal reason to remotely dislike them.

They consistently offer great games that I don't have to pick up year after year but I know will be available when I'm in the mood for them. In the case of Origin, it's given me no more or less problems than Steam, I put them on the same level aside from Steam having far better pricing.

Oh hell yes. I ain't buying anything. Not ME3 or TOR or anything like that. EA can kiss my ass. Plus, my friends will most likely get those games, so I can easily play them at their place.
I thought the rich jew producer paid for equipping the place?
What are you talking about?
Pardon, the rich jew producer is the "evil host" of the show your avatar came from.

well there you go. Opt out of origin's EULA.
Does this stop the software from scaning what hardware and software is on your computer and then sending it to EA without your permission? If not then it is useless.

I boycotted Steam for 10 years.

My Issues were requiring a 3rd party to give me permission to play the games I'd purchased.
This issue most people seem to have accepted as a media norm now... it's sad really that people didn't stand up for their rights, now they are lost and there's nothing we can do to get them back.

I won't be using Origin for at least 10 years. Steam has earned my trust - They've kept their promises. EA has not.

Origin will be the very definition of a marketing tool which will be discarded as soon as the sales drop - leaving you with all of your Origin games unplayable. There will be service outages, invasive marketing and hacks.

It'll be like 911 x 10,000... that's right 9110,000!

Don't say you haven't been warned.

How many of you guys complaining about Origin "stealing" personal info are using Facebook, Twitter or even Steam for example? You are already being monitored and pumped for gaming habits, surfing habits, purchases an other personal information on a daily basis.

By all means, disapprove of Origin if you think it's a bad piece of software - but for goodness sake, stop pretending it's because of your PERSONAL INFO BEING STOLEN OMG I FEEL SO VIOLATED. You'd have to live in a small bunker with zero connection to the outside world in order to escape personal info diggers. It's how marketing works nowadays.

And for the record yes, Steam does the very same thing as Origin. Their EULA just words it differently but the result is the same - believe it or not. Christ, it's like a witch hunt... And half of the angry mob are already being screwed by others and don't even realise it.

As you may have guessed by the rest of my post, I am happily using Origin. Heck, even bought BF3 and Old Republic there!

For me, it's not so much boycotting Origins, as simply not caring about EA's products. I've never been a huge fan of COD, or ME, so ME3 doesn't really entice me.
Their business practices (particularly their horrendous advertising campaigns) simply drive that point home, and make me even more hesitant to jump ship from steam and try origin.

It works fine. Nothing anyone has posted about Origins customer service/practices has even come close to justifying a boycott considering the odds of any of it actually happening to me.

I'm going to play it "Wild" and wait till I actually get burned before I decide on going for a boycott.
I second this attitude. I'm sure it's not long before we have reports of demon barbers coming from Origin installs slicing off peoples heads and using their corpses to make suspicious pies, but until then I will enjoy BF3 and all it's tanky goodness.

Boycotting it. Well rather i dont plan on buying anything that requires it. To be frank, im one of those "old People" that remember a Time when there was no need to have any other Program at all on your Computer besides the game you bought. Hell i dont even own any Games that require Steam!

Not yet anyway. But no, ME3 can go shove off. ME2 was a let-down, so i honestly dont really see me getting all excited about the last one, especially one which forces me to have "HUR DUR DRM" on my System. ME1 didnt have it, ME2 didnt have it. Bought both of them. ME3 has it, i wont buy it, kinda curious that if enough People did it, what EA would think about that logic.

Guess they just prefer seeing everyone as a petty criminal rather than a loyal Customer. And dont get me wrong, Ubisoft does the same shit and i havent touched a Game of theirs in years, although that is not because of their DRM method, but its a contributing factor.

I still don't see why I can't play single player games without an internet connection, and until someone answers that, I'm not touching Origin. I'm not even going to mention the other bullshit involved with that thing.

Though, I'm not that interested in any of the games on Origin in the first place, but there are a couple of games I might have considered that I'm not getting because of that.

Weren't there those guys that got banned from Origin due to moderators not liking their forum posts?
It's possible that was only from BF3, but still :V

I do not use it because I do not play PC games. I buy EA games on consoles just like every other game I buy and see this whole boycotting thing as idiotic and blown way out of proportion. The only reason it is this big is because its EA and valve fanboys love to hate EA.

Better be careful about what you say the people around here will lynch you if you even think about badmouthing steam.
I know, and that's the hilarious and sad part. People are fixated on single games and software, so they flame. BF3 or COD - why not both? Steam or Origin - again, why not both? The list goes on. The "THEY'S STEALIN MA PURRSONAL INFO" argument doesn't work because by using a single program out there you're already being mined for info on one level or another.

I am not boycotting the service for any reason because that word is too strong of a term for what I do towards EA products. I am not trying to make any point, political or otherwise, towards the company for any of its practices.

The correct way to think about it is that I am not buying any of their products not because of any "unfair" business practices, but because their products do not interest me. There are a scant few things that this company makes that I want to play. I like Deathspank. Dante's Inferno was fun also. Beyond that, I am ambivalent towards. I do not care one way or another.

Now, if you are going to boycott, follow through with it. Baycott means you are not buying anything the company makes, even if it is popular. Do not use the "I want to play with my friends" excuse because it tells me you do not have the courage of your convictions. You should be able to say, "to hell with my friends I am making a stand on this one."

Unless I manage to get a legal crack that takes Origin out of it, I refuse to play anything that uses that stuff. I just don't want that on my PC. I had such a hassle with the EA Download Manager and with Games for Windows Live (or XBox Live or whatever) that I just don't want to go through that again. Also, they don't have many games that I would like to try. Mass Effect 3, sure, but I don't know if I want to play that - I had ME1 on the PC, ME2 on the 360, so if I get ME3 for PC I will end up with a game without any of the nice "continuity extras".

This. "Boycott" is a pretty strong word for what's more accurately described as "busy enough with other games that I don't feel like dealing with EA's crapware."

I'm not boycotting it per se i just don't use it very much/at all! I do have a couple of games on there DA:O And ME2 But i don't use it unless i want to install either of those games.

Saying that though i only have those games on origin because ME2 was given to me for buying DA2 on the xbox and i'm not sure how how come DA:O is attached.

But do i intend ever buying any games from origin? Hell no!

I do not agree with this business practice, believe it is a very bad direction to take, and thus do not buy EA products. This is my responsibility as a consumer: Buy what I can get behind, not buy what I don't. This is not a boycott, this is simply voting with my wallet.

I do not need a security risk installed with a bonus game, thanks.

Yes, this means no Mass Effect 3 for me, nor Dragon Age 3, butthere are other games to play. Not a big deal.

Nope, not boycotting. Then again, I think Spore was the last EA game I've bought in a long time so I don't see the point of formally boycotting. I generally don't care for their games anyways. Battlefield 3 would be an exception but I have too many other games to play to add another to the list.

I'm not boycotting, I just don't buy their games.
