Define clever...
My thought, thank you.

Like: Is it related to the IQ, or do you only focus on the useage of large words (define "large") and some kind of wittyness?

By that definition, no. Not at all.

By "I can cleverly figure out how to sneak around a person", something that doesn't involve big words and algebra... Sure, I'm kinda clever.

Clever;
1 a : skillful or adroit in using the hands or body : nimble b : mentally quick and resourceful
2 : marked by wit or ingenuity

Being "clever" has nothing to do with big words and general asshole-ness.

Using fancy language has nothing to do with being smart. IQ and the choices you make, make you a clever person.

Higher IQ than average, but too undisciplined and unmotivated to do anything with it. So in a way yes; In other ways no.

Do i regularly use large words and smart arse witty comments?yes. Am i 'clever'? debatable. I think a more accurate way to describe someone like that is 'arsehole'.

More so recently, with the advent of university and a sudden massive influx of education. At high school I had the smart arse half of it down, but although i had the intelligence I was far too content to just coast by and slack off. I would still say I was clever then, because despite all of the slacking off I still managed to be an almost straight A student (I never did like Spanish), and even aced one of my A Level exams 100% (English)

BUT

Since coming to university, actually having to apply myself in order to do well, instead of having the opportunity to slack off, my vocabulary has rocketed up, my scores continue to sit in the upper band, and generally I make much better decisions and have the faculties for better long term planning as well, something I lacked before.

And just for whatever it's worth, whenever my IQ gets tested I score anywhere from 120 to 150. I know IQ tests are bogus, but according to them I've been in the above average category for some time now.

Using long words, witty comebacks? That is the most possibly pretentious proposal that it puzzles me to ponder this predicament for a prolonged period of time!

I think I am intelligent, yes. Except in mathematics. That is my kryptonite.

Of course being 'intelligent' doesn't stop me from being wrong or ignorant or arrogant at times :D

Clever enough to know that claiming my cleverness is, in itself, a sign of lacking cleverness.

A freshman knows nothing and claims to know nothing.
A sophomore knows barely anything and claims to know almost everything.
A senior knows something and claims to know barely anything.

Cleverness, if measured on this scale of absolute brilliant resolution of all situations, works on a similar mechanic. Simply in knowing this, I can acknowledge some true cleverness within myself while claiming little.

A clever twist on when Plato's Socrates states that, "the cleverest man knows he knows nothing"

Does that make me clever??

I definitely exist, and that's all I can say for sure; for I belong to the school of thought that says you aren't fit to rate yourself. I know a lot of things in all kinds of fields, but I'm only really versed in two or three (which are relatively useless), and I've got a good idetic memory, but I think concepts like "cleverness" are too broad for someone like me to accurately describe.

So you decide, I guess.

As in all things, it's a matter of relativity. ;)

So by "clever" it means you casually use long words, make witty retorts and are generally a bit of a smart ass, get voting!
That seems almost like an exact description of me... heh heh. But of course, there is always a difference between being smart and being clever.

And its often said my cleverness goes hand-in-hand with arrogance...
