No. I like Halo and all, but I really don't see the point, especially with the new trilogy coming up. Although I'm even hesitant about that, as I'm going to wait for some USER reviews before delving into it. I'm sure the guys at 343 are great, but it's not Bungie so I'm going to take a wait-and-see approach.

I am going to buy because I never completed it on the original xbox and also I am a shameless Halo fanboy. Are you getting Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary?
Wait, wait, wait... what? You call yourself a shameless Halo fanboy and yet you have never completed the original Halo? Shameless you are my good sir, but little else!

Lol but seriously, Combat Evolved is my absolute favourite Halo game. The many sequels are just more of the same, not a bad thing mind you, but they didn't really introduce anything ground breakingly new. I'm proud to say I was there from the beginning, you know, before Halo was all critically aclaimed and stuff.

Needless to say... hellz yeah I'm buying that game! The chance to play one of my top 5 all time favourite games ever in shiny HD on the Reach graphic engine? Well call me a graphics whore and slap my be-hind 'cause there ain't nothing that's gonna stop me experiencing that!

i'm a huge halo fan, but no. not only is the game unnecessary, it's ugly. you know somethings wrong when the ten year old game looks better than it's brandy new hd remake.

A shameless HD cashgrab isn't a reason to pick up a video game.

I'll tell you this though, if God blinked tomorrow and suddenly Halo was available on the PS3 I'd probably pick it up. It's one of the rare FPS'ers that provided a decent co-op function and that made the game enjoyable at least as a distraction for when I've got a buddy over.

Then again Resistance 3 does the same thing and it exists on the PS3 in this reality. Huh.

I don't hate the XB360. I have enough income to buy two consoles. I just don't want to. If that means I miss out on Halo and Gears of War, pfft. I'm sure my survival instincts will kick in shortly.

As I say with every Halo game. Maybe if it is cheap, but probably not. I do not actually care for the story, I mean I may like it if I played it, but really I only want it for the Multiplayer stuff. Which really isn't worth 50 dollars in my opinion.
If you only want the multi-player. The Online multi-player for the Anniversary Edition is using the Halo Reach engine and will be part of the Halo Reach playlists. Pretty sure it was announced that the maps from Anniversary will also be available as DLC for those who have Reach and don't want to by Anniversary.

What worries me is how are they handling the fact that the Multi player uses Reach's engine. Will it be a DLC code or a separate disc to download them to you Xbox to play on Halo Reach, or will they do a Halo 3: ODST, and bung all the Halo Reach Multi-player maps onto a separate disc.

I am not going to buy it because I am not going to give in to MS' abandonment of the Windows platform. Maybe if it came out on PC... also maybe if they released all the rest of the games on PC... but not on 360. No way.

I would, but Microsoft hates me for buying Windows 7. I'll just have to settle with a Halo 1 + 2 boxed set off Amazon, and then collapse into fits of nostalgia and joy.

Also, has anyone else noticed an uncanny resemblance between the beginning of Halo 1 and RAGE?
Surely you're not going to claim Halo ripped off RAGE? :p
Of course it did! It has guns! It has... erm... shoes! Everyone knows Bungie invented them!
Im sick of stupid brown shooters with their fucking shoes, sereiously ever since Shoes where used in games everyone just copys them, some people in my school wont even play some games because they have no shoes!

Ummmmmmm, no not really. Aside from the fact that both include waking up from cryogenic storage and a pistol is your first weapon they are quite different.
What made the connection for me is the immediate 'look up and down, now would you like to reverse the controls?' bit.

Fine! It's probably the most tenuous connection anyone could possibly suggest! Leave me alone!

Nope, cause i owned the original and sold it cause it wasnt really that good and also i dont really want to encourage them to continue to the point where they just make halo games cause its halo.
I know halo fanboys who never saw halo 4 coming (not that they dont like the idea) because they though as bungie had stopped making them, halo would be laid to rest.
Apparently examples like silent hill didnt change their minds, but microsoft whoring halo out as its the only thing the xbox has that it waves around to attract fans does change their minds.

So enough ranting, im not a fan, the series will go downhill, this is just a money making scheme based on the success of everyone else doing it (yes we see your HD remakes of mgs/gow/sh etc, but they are still jsut been lazy and trying to make money)

While I was a little surprised that they went with a straight up graphics filter instead of rebuilding the game in the Reach engine, I'm still completely on board with this one. I've already pre-ordered it. My only complaint is that it releases the same day as Saints Row: The Third. It'll suck trying to pick which one to play first because Saints Row and Halo are 2 of my most beloved franchises of this gen.

I still kinda wish they'd put the Flood physics from Halo 3 in the Anniversary game. They completely changed the dynamics of Flood encounters when they added the ability to get Flood headshots. I can't help but wonder what the Library might have been like with that design choice over the classic Halo 1 gameplay.

But either way, I'm there. I'll go to a midnight release if they offer it.

While I don't agree with Hallo 4, I will be buying anniversary.

Firstly I'm one of those sad people who likes to appreciate the scenery in games, and while they aren't a deal breaker I like graphical upgrades to my favorite games (which I wish upon Metal Gear Solid PLEASE!).
Secondly it's a nostalgia thing. Halo was the reason I bought an X... well my parents bought me an Xbox was for that game. I was always a Playstation gamer (my first console was a PS1) and all the Xbox exclusive titles looked pretty bad to me. Then came Halo which was the first FPS that I got hooked on.
Me and a friend (the only other person in my hometown with an Xbox) spent countless hours in campaign, applying our own characters and stories into the events, so Halo is one of those francises that I hold dear (along with Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Ed Edd and Eddy and the 1997 release of Star Wars). It's one of those games that I dust off every now and again, playing with a smile and a ridiculously overpowered handgun.

I'll probably get it when it's cheaper, spending money on new titles that I haven't played yet. You know, during those dark months of no releases.

Absolutely! I had been talking with some of my friends about this a year ago. When I found out that Microsoft was going to do this, I went and pre-ordered it.... Best Game Ever!

I believe they've said that CEA comes with one disc that has the CEA campaign and the 7 CEA maps, and that it also comes with a voucher to download the CEA maps so that you can access the CEA MP maps from Reach if you have it.

Not unless it's a complete remake, the same way that Resident Evil on the Gamecube was, it was the exact same game, but completely different. I Haven't read much about it, so we'll see when it come out.

NEVAR!!!! :D

I'll admit there is a little bit of a resemblance. A tiny easily missed resemblance but it is there.

OT: Found this and thought it was interesting and relevant

Not going to bother. I liked the original game but it's "revolution" was lost on me mainly because I was a PC gamer who was already accustomed to games like Deus Ex and Half Life by the time Halo came out. It was a fairly decent shooter that set a mark for some of the most detestable staples of FPS now (2 weapons and slow movement especially)

An average shooter the only remarkable thing being the degree to which it is stuck up it's own ass. everything halo does has been done before and better.
Mr Croshaw is knowledgeable on many subjects but I'm afraid he must have been round the bike sheds having a cheeky cigarette while the rest of the boys and girls were being taught about FPS history. A good 50% of what we take as standard in modern shooters was implemented in Halo.

Anyway, my answer to the poll is: Yes, but grudgingly. May the records show that this is the LEAST I've been excited over a new Halo game since... well, ever, actually. I've always had a bittersweet relationship with game remakes - in one sense they're a step backwards in terms of gameplay and features, but then again they're a graphical overhaul which makes the original obsolete. (I had a similar awkward feeling toward Dead Or Alive Ultimate when it was released, if anybody remembers that).

I'm looking forward to the new multiplayer levels, theatre mode, and if there isn't some form of Forge 3.0 in there I'll be a very unhappy bunny.
