Can't say I am. I hate memorizing and practicing long combos and I rarely to never play on the most difficult setting. For me, when a game stops being fun and becomes a task, it stops being a game.

I'm not a hardcore gamer. Yes, I spend many hours playing games but, only games that are one player, I don't play well with others. And being able to play well with others is important for hardcore gamers. (I think anyway) I also have great difficulty playing any thing in first person view and with 3-D controls. I tried playing Half-Life, my friend was laughing his ass off watching my attempts to control Gordon Freeman. Poor guy died so quickly and so often. So no, hardcore I'm not.

I am a core gamer. I am well informed through gaming news sites/blogs, play a broad range of titles (from AAA to Indie) and am reasonably competitive in multiplayer as well as persistent in playing a game through to the end. I play videogames between four and six nights a week on average

I define a hardcore gamer as one who grinds through on the hardest possible difficulty, plays extremely competitively online, and dedicates a lot of their free time to gaming or gaming related things. Maybe they play professionally and earn a living from tournaments, or have serious ambitions to do so.

I play often like a hardcore gamer, however I don't really care too much about the games and I never take them seriously, even during competitive online play. That and the fact that I'm never quite good at repetively grinding through games is why I wouldn't classify myself as hardcore, 1337, or haxx0rs.

Nope. And kinda yes.

I don't play for endless hours. I don't buy every game I can find. I've yet to play for over 12 days straight.

However, I'm a total Achievement whore. I completed all the Bioshock Achievements and am close on Mass Effect and Halo 3. I play hard on Halo 3 Live and mostly do ranked games. I always strive to boost my ranking to prove that I'm better than others.

But I classify myself as an average-approaching-avid gamer.

Nope. I play games for fun, regardless of how well I do. "Pwning N00bs" is a bonus of course, but losing hilariously is better than winning boringly IMO.

No, hardcore to me is borderline to being a pro gamer. Which I'm not. I only play single player for my own enjoyment and I only ever bother getting good enough at a mulitplayer to play competitively with my friends.
Although that said, I do like to have achievements that my friends don't have, so I will occasionally grind at games to beat them.

Yes, in that I tend to play quite a lot of games, and I'm pretty good in multiplayer with games I like (even if I do say so myself) and usually end up top 25%.

No, in that I don't know the best hiding spot on every COD4 map, that I don't know the DPS per credit rating for a mammoth tank and don't give a rats ass about achievements.

I don't know. I love ridiculously difficult games but I don't care about achievements. I play games all the time but rarely play online. I play religiously until I beat a game but rarely go back for more once it's done... I guess I'm more of a midcore gamer than anything else.

I consider myself hardcore, but not those "stay-up-all-night-trying-to-get-my-level-up-in-CoD4" kindof hardcore, just the magical amount. I don't mouth-off a 12 year-old online, i don't stay up past midnight just to get to prestige, i don't talk about games 24/7. But i DO mouth-off 12 year-olds who won't shut the hell up about being so awesome, i DO play my games for a well good average amount of time, and i DO talk about games but not too much.

I define hardcore as someone who plays alot of games, and gets the most out of the game, just doesn't over do it like SOME of my frineds.

I play a lot of hours, but then I play FPS's with a joystick and trackball because I think it's more fun, even though I know a mouse and keyboard are more accurate. So I'm pretty softcore. Damn near romantic comedy even.

I play games hard but I'm not hardcore. Plus I have very little time to play games what with collage and all.

I play games for enjoyment. While I'm all right at my preferred genre (FPS), and decent at most others, I suck at some (strategy games in general). The enjoyment when playing these games is similar to how well I play them (hone my twitching, not so good in macro-/micro- management) and thus, I kinda rule myself out of being hardcore, by my definition.

Though, I'm somewhat of an achievement whore (I'm naturally lazy, but set me a bar, and if it's within my reach, I'll strive to surpass it), and, to an extent (usually around the first 12 yr old '1337' player comes along), like competitive multiplayer, though its always team deathmatch for me (hate normal deathmatch).

I think this thread needs a definition of 'hardcore gamer'. I'm not a competitive gamer, nor do I play on the harder difficulties, but I can easily sink a couple hundred hours into a good RPG.

No, I have no need to brag about my e-penis.

Besides, I suck at gaming. Most of my spare time and income has been spend on it for about then 14 years, but I'm just not very good and most of the time I play at the easiest difficulty.

This really needs a definition, I mean I'm not great at all games or anything like that or feel I need to get every achievement but to me that would be someone referring to themselves as 'pro' however I've been gaming for a good many years now, I started my gaming on a BBC micro and have been gaming on as many different platforms as possible ever since.

I also play nearly every high profile game that comes out and also try to play all those regarded as lost/missed classics, and I enjoy all genres of gaming so that's pretty hardcore but you tell me.
