Poll: Are you psyched for Dishonored?

Oh hell yes, I know I've been burned by pre-ordering before - but this seems like one of those games I won't regret pre-ordering.

With the abundance of jingoistic military shooters - something set in a non-Tolkien fantasy world is a breath of fresh air.

Goddamn that flat name of theirs, I forget what the game is every single time.
Let's say I'm cautiously optimistic, what they shown sure looks enticing but the end product is always a complete wildcard, a game with so many options needs to be very carefully put together and balanced or it will feel all manner of wrong.

I'm not pre ordering, but I really hope this game is great, because I like the parallels between the sort of Medieval sort of atmosphere and the futuristic tech. So yes, yes I am.

I'm very psyched for Dishonoured. But being the lazy sheep I am I won't buy it untill IGN reviews it and I just read what score out of ten it's given.

The art direction gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Well, it certainly doesn't look like a bad game by any means, but I for one am a bit tired of Bethesda games at the moment. Especially because they are consistently buggy out-of-the-box. Seriously, they are a massively successful publisher and they should have greater quality control over their products.

Bethesda Game Studios(the developer) games are buggy, Bethesda Softworks(the publisher) games usually aren't.

You may be right, as I can only recall playing Bethesda-developed games. I do not hate them by any means, but I am frustrated, I guess you could say. In any event, I do not feel the need to pre-order, and I would likely wait for the community or Bethesda to iron out the bugs before attempting to play it anyway.

My problem with Dishonored is that Arkane are promising the moon with this game, and I don't know if they can deliver. Interested, but cautious. Will probably read a whole buttload of reviews and then pick it up during a Steam sale or something.

Only X-COM comes out at around the same time and it costs less on Steam (for Australians). Choices, choices.

So far I'm good for it. I have set aside money to purchase it on release... but I'm not stupid.

The talent behind the game is great... a lot of industry vets who were behind some great titles previously (conceptually at least for some) are really making an impact on the game, from what I've seen. I can see the influence of the level designer (same guy who made HL2) and I'm impressed. The multi-route gameplay really shows the influence of the original Deus Ex developers. Dark Messiahs influence is shown through the combat mechanics.

Having an old timey london back drop, with "victorian-punk" aesthetics is massively refreshing next to all the cyberpunk and modern war settings that seems to have drowned the first person genre.

Conceptually the game looks fucking awesome. I still want to see it handles its delivery though, before I purchase it.

I will wait for the reviews. They promise a lot and I feel they can deliver, but I'm weary of unstable products or unforseen shortcomings (like being too short or playing like ass).

I eventually stopped being psyched in advance, and I stopped pre-ordering when false promises and just too much money in the marketing department ruined it for me.

I still ticked 'psyched', as I am really, really hoping Dishonored will deliver.

I'm completely indifferent to it at the moment, and actually haven't followed any details about it at all. A lot of people on the forums seem to be excited as all hell about it though so I'll have to look it out at some point.

Same for me too, I watched the reveal trailer but haven't really kept up with it since, Guess I should check it out now.

Not really psyched. I know a few things about the game, saw a few story and gameplay vids, but overall I kept myself in the dark. Like with most games, I'm gonna try it and let it surprise me.

As a mate of mine said, where 5-10 years ago games like Splinter Cell and Thief had awesome new ways to stealth and roam levels, it was rarely implemented well with other features such as AI peripheral vision or noise detection and distraction. The new features fresh out of the box often behaved erratically when working in conjunction with one another.

Now with Dishonoured you have all of that coming together in one awesome amalgamation of stealthy infiltration gameplay with near-endless possibilities in level completion, and it genuinely looks like it could hold up very well and not end up etched into the annals of game-hype talk.

Looks sweet. I think know I'm going to enjoy playing through it many times over. It's just my kind of game.

I'd really like to be, but to be honest, there's just other stuff coming out I want more...it looks awesome, don't get me wrong, but not quite awesome enough to topple the likes of Assassin's Creed III, PS All-Stars, and LittleBigPlanet Karting from my list...not to mention the fact that I still haven't picked up Borderlands 2 yet.

This type of game is one I enjoy very much; indeed one of my first gaming experiences was the sly cooper series on the ps2. But what is disconcerting is not the premise, so much as who is making it. After skyrim and new vegas, I know they are different types of games, but...

I am looking forward to it and it's down as one of my "to buy" games.

I won't be pre-ordering though, that was a lesson learned the hard way and not one i'm going to repeat. Far too many games i've been looking forward to have turned out shite.

It will be a case of waiting a couple of weeks after release and seeing what's been said about it.
