A lot of religions don't have a savior. It Reform Judaism, we believe that there will be a messianic age that is not caused or heralded by one single person and can we only happen when well all work together to make it happen.

I'm Jewish and I don't really believe in the messiah in the same sense as a lot of people...basically I am expecting a messianic age, a time of peace to come sometime in the future. Really what I'm trying to say is that I personally (and I'm not speaking for all Jews...this isn't what it says in the scriptures per say) don't believe in a person as a savior so I would never run into this problem.

Peudonym2, be careful with these broad statements. I may agree with you on that but a lot of reform Jews would not...the Reform movement doesn't stand behind that idea 100%.

This might be the strangest thread I've ever seen... Anyway I don't believe in religions that talk about messiahs and doom and whatnot so I don't care

As a Christian, if God and Jesus came down to earth there really wouldn't be a need to sacrifice Jesus ( again) for my loved one because he is saving everyone already. That's why he would be coming.

If there was a saviour for athiests I'd sacrifice him without having to save anyone. Saviour is my job ^_^

I was under the impression the second coming of the J-man meant the end of the world?

I don't know a lot about religions (current ones anyways; I know rather more about the ancient ones), but wouldn't killing the savior typically be what is required? Didn't, according to the Bible, Jesus die to save us? So sacrificing the savior to save your most loved one would also cause everyone to be saved.

Unless I'm way off base. That could be the case.

I am an atheist, so I have no gods however for this topic allow us to assume I do. Forget loved ones, I would sacrifice him/her/them for money, yes I am that selfish. ;)

Here I thought this would be a thread about how selfish I was.
Sadly, I can't participate. I don't buy into religion.
You don't need to buy into it. You just need to say whether you'd shoot jesus in the face or not.

And as for sacrificing people for my own gains. Been there, done that, gained much, enjoyed it, laughed in their faces. Thankfully no one died (means they are reusable)

Since I don't have a religion (besides FSM - and the FSM bible says nothing about saviors) this dude is just a charlatan. Or high. Either way, whatever.

A much better question would you sacrifice an innocent person for a loved one. And there it is much more complicated.

I'd do it. Hell, isn't it selfless that you're killing to save another person anyway?

I'm an atheist so I don't give a damn about other people's messiah. I would surrender the life of anyone else to save a loved one as well. I'm not selfish, I'm loyal to my friends :D

Would the messiah include somebody who actually developed/created/gave-away-for-free, the perfect game/movie/book? (aka that game we all look for, that is just... perfect in every possible way?

Cause, I'd kill my first born for that. :p

I wouldn't give up Larenxis for anyone. Not Odin, or Zeus. Seriously, if they were being jerks and gave me that choice, I'd give them all the finger and take Larenxis.

I wouldn't sacrifice one human being for another, which is but one of the many reasons I am not a Christian.
