They were married for ..15 years? They actually separated about 6 years before they finally got divorced.

My parents aren't divorced yet. This recession has been the biggest strain on their marriage I've ever witnessed, including my dad having a job where he had to travel all the time (not military, not executive, but going out to installations and repairing sophisticated equipment.)

EDIT: They've been together a bit over 24 years, I know because I was born the day after their third anniversary
