Imagine this situation, you're sleeping with your significant other/hooker/sibling whatever, below is your view of that other person, so you're sleeping behind them and they're lying on their side (they can be lying on their back, but just to make things easier to illustrate, let's assume they're on their side).

Now, you want to cuddle up to them, so naturally your right arm would go in position #0, now here's the question, where do you feed your left arm for a reach-around to complete the cuddle? Cuz... well... have you ever been hugged/cuddled by someone with just one arm? It plain sucks right?

I personally would love position #1 but I know I'll get a dead arm after 5 mins, plus it causes great discomfort for my partner, so I've always ended up placing it #5 and rest my head on my arm (head is not heavy enough to give dead arm). Unfortunately that means the whole thing feels less intimate/ lacking in closeness, but at least both parties are comfortable.

What do you guys/girls think?

Back when I had a girl, I put my arm in spot 2. Then I could wrap my arms around her and hug her all night long. She never said anything negative about it, and it was pretty comfy.
Dammit I miss cuddling.

Wherever she wanted it... if they're asleep, number one if they're their back, number three on their side.

Also, "sandwiched between your" what?

Hey, now this is finally an interesting and "not done thousands of times already" topic :)

For me, it would also depend on her. If none of those spots are taken by her, then i prefer spot 3. Comfortable for me as well as her, and doesn't feel as "distanced" and "weird" as "5". Unfortunatelly, if she prefers to lie like i do, then she will already have her arm at spot 3. I never really found a comfortable and nice position for this :-(

Just move the pillow up a bit, then #2.

Or tilt over a bit so her back can be on my shoulder/arm, then I'll go with #1, kinda like off-centre spooning with me on my back.

For how long? Any position but 5 will result in my arm going numb pretty quick. 2 or maybe 3 are the most possible.

I chose option 6 - on the couch. I am a ridiculously restless sleeper; I wake up about every 20 minutes, I end up in positions that I'm not sure I could recreate if I tried, I tear all the sheets off my bed and end up wrapped in them... point being, sharing a bed is out of the question for me.

ehh...dammit

probably 5 or 2

i do 3 all the time but i dont put it far over, i put it underneath the pillow which is directly underneath my head, putting it underneath her head would be weird...

and as many have mentioned, 3 would cause massive dead arm (i have had it happen, it sucks ass)

Give it a week and it'll be the new fad thread.

Probably number 2 if there were no objections. I would actually find it uncomfortable to have my arm in 5 for any length of time. Numbers 3 and 4 aren't much better and 1 is obviously just dead arm territory. Maybe just leave my left arm lying between us or rest my head on it's too difficult to get my arm into 2.

Position number 2... It looks like it would be the most intimate while still comfortable. Maybe a neck massage...

[sub]Fuck, I miss cuddling sooo much right now.[/sub]

I suggest a variant on the 1. You slide your arm under her left arm so you can hold hand while cuddling. I do not recommend this if you have bony arms like me. :(

I used to put it underneath my head.
Uuh, why did you have to make such a thread? Now I miss cuddling!

To be honest I cannot sleep in such an arrangement precisely because I can't find a comfortable spot for my left arm. After they fall asleep I eventually move over and sleep on my back.

Am I the only 3 fan? Arm doesn't numb, props the head up and is close enough. Depends on the pillow though.
