A bailout would only keep GM floating for a few more months. The only permanent solution would be to let them fail or to nationalize them.

In my mind the best thing that could be done (and it's gonna be weird for me to say seeing as i dislike outsourcing) is for a Japanese company to buy 'em, they're far more advanced and hopefully everyone will keep their jobs... except for the rich jerks who ran their company into the ground then flew in private jets to ask for munnies from the government.

Taxation from ordinary people, going into the pockets of orporations. So those corporations can use that tax money to make cars, and sell those cars to the tax-payers who have already paid for them.

Maybe my view is skewed by my dislike of mega-corporations but I personally don't like this.
This. As torn as I am on the entire issue (feeling bad for the people who will lose jobs when the companies go under, but also feeling like the people who are already in trouble are being robbed to help the big companies), I have to point out that this is my viewpoint from one side of the argument. The working class is already pretty much screwed around with by the bigwigs, but now we have to save them because they're just weighing too heavily on us to be allowed to die? Sometimes, it feels like we're taking care of really big, fussy babies that sometimes crawl too close to cliffs...or something.

Of course, I might just be biased because one parent lost her job when the budget cuts from this crisis got too high, and my other parent is struggling to support the household as well as just not liking 'the suits and ties'. I just want to point out, I'm not bashing anyone except the people who PURPOSEFULLY do frivolous things like this.

The bailout will mean nothing if they don't change their business strategies. Part of that is making cars people want. A first step would be to fire all the higher ups in the company and hire new younger managers with a new battle plan.
