Well, the new limitations are a tad annoying, but nothing that can't be worked around.

Also, isn't it a 200k limit?

As far as I know, it's not currently a problem for me, and I doubt it ever will be since I always just use stills, but I could see how it would be annoying to someone who wants to use a long .gif.

Still, I can also understand the limitation, as it should keep the site loading fast, whereas too many big avatars could slow down the site.

In my ideal world, people wouldn't be able to use animated crap in avatars, so 100kB would be plenty. They'd also be able to use something a bit bigger than 75x75, though, because that's obnoxiously small, and every other site I use is at least 100x100, if not 150x150, and it's irritating to not be able to easily recycle stuff I make.

I want my avatar right now bigger, but I can't because it is over 1000kb(HOLY COW).
So it will stay the same for now until I find / make a new avatar.

Wouldn't it make sense to have an option to use a picture from somewhere else? Then you wouldn't need a limit.

It needs to be at least 500kb, since my old avatar (the good one) is fuckinghuge.
I miss your old avatar (it's the long version of that one right?)

While yes I would like the restriction to be larger i'm not going to complain, it lessens their work load and it's not the end of the world for me. I get why they did it, even if personally it would be nice for them to be bigger.

It seems to small for me, as well. The 75 x 75 isn't fun either D: make it 100!
A little larger would be alright with me. But you have to be careful because a forum full of huge avatars can really be hard to read.

I like this idea, the only problem being people could have huge avatars that massively slow the pages down, unless you make avatars load last.
Then people with bandwidth limits might complain depending on how big the picture you're making them download is.

I still like the idea though.

Doesn't bother me at all though, my gif is under 3kbs.

Publisher's Club members have a 200KB limit, if you're unsatisfied

OT: I love my avatar just the way it is

It does seem a bit annoying. If I wanted to change my current 105 KB avatar, I wouldn't be able to use it again unless I joined the Pub Club. Funnily enough, the 100x100 version is still under the limit at 184 KB.

As for my older avatar, it's at a very nice 16.6 KB. And still a .gif.

I am unaffected. My avatar is hosted on my website, so it could be as large as I want.
Good thing, because that cat looks like it's putting on some pounds.

I'm going to pretty much have to copy Furbie:

1) I would like bigger avatars, just because some of the Escapists avatars that I loved were pretty huge.

2) I completely understand why there is this limit even though it makes me sad :(
