Going to nitpick a bit...
Wrath content is 70 - 80, not 70 - 85.
85 will not be coming into play until Cataclysm comes out (Which is rumored to be early this November...).

Anyway, I'm going to have to go with Wrath, sure I had a character and got them up to the level cap in vanilla and BC... but once there I just didn't do anything, couldn't find a good guild so I just went off and leveled up alts

I vote for Burning Crusade era, I really liked classic dungeons because they were mostly non-linear but BC was really colorfull in ALL aspects of the game.
OH GOD THERE WAS SO MUCH PURPLE.
You must have spent too much time in netherstorm.

what was your favorite time period in Warcraft?
Warcraft 2. More intuitive than Warcraft 1, better story, the lore hadn't been destroyed yet, and it hadn't become Herocraft either.
If only Warcraft 3 was to Warcraft 2 what Starcraft 2 is to Starcraft.
Slightly offtopic, but how was the lore ruined exactly, and what does "Herocraft" even mean?

Burning Crusade for me. The Warcraft 2 expansion campaigns were my favorites, and it was awesome seeing Khadgar and the old fighting locations from a one-person perspective (alá third-person-game, I mean)
I can only speak for myself, but some of the retconning that goes into the story in WoW does tend to set some people on edge.

One of the most notable examples being the Draenei being an uncorrupted offshoot of the Eredar that had been living on Draenor before the Burning Legion corrupted the Orcs.

Personally I have to admit I'm a little peeved at their current lore twisting by including Mages as a playable class for the Night Elves. It completely flies in the face of everything the Night Elves back story was based on.
I'm not even an Alliance player and that kinda ticks me off a bit.
I see your point, I suppose.

And eh, the guy that contacted Tyrande about letting magi into elven society was Highborne (that is to say, not a traditional Night Elf as people know them ingame at the moment) which suggests the magi might also be Highborne. Game mechanics and story are two different things. The Tauren Paladins aren't Paladins in the story - just in the mechanics.

As a roleplayer on Earthen Ring-EU for five years now, I've yet to be disappointed at Blizzard's storyline choices myself.
*cough*

The in-game conversation between Thunder Bluff NPCs Aponi Brightmane and Tahu Sagewind suggests the tauren may be able to draw power from the sun, An'she, like the druids draw power from the moon, Mu'sha.

This is further supported by the tauren having no history with the Holy Light, it is likely that their power comes from another source entirely, similar to night elf priests gaining their powers from Elune and troll priests gaining their powers from the Loa. Thus their in-game abilities would be equivalent to those of human, dwarf, draenei and blood elf paladins, even though the source of their power is different.
It mostly speculation at this point as to the specifics, but those NPC's are currently in WoW so it's fair to say the 'Sunwalker's' existence will have some small mention with regards to the story, and not simply a gameplay mechanic.

As far as PvP, I heavily preferred the era before the honor system. 40 men raids were a constant sight in the Barrens, Ashenvale, and the capitals.

Nostalgia is telling me Vanilla - it was fun exploiting glitches, it was fun getting that first epic, it was great when vent exploded when rag went down for the first time. But, being locked out of content if 5 people didn't show up sucked, having to get exalted by grinding mobs really sucked, having to have resist-sets sucked, etc...

When I actually think about it it's WoTLK - great quest design, great raid design (Ulduar and ICC are great), fun achievements; just a metric ton of content that's well polished and not glitchy. The only exception to that is PvP - I really did prefer pvp in vanilla (I am on of those people that enjoyed 3 hour AVs, zergging through it in 5-10mins seems so silly to me).

Am I out of touch here, as I left a month or two ago, but isn't Wrath only 1-80? 85 was Cata last time I looked.

Wrath for me, even though I joined WoW at the very start, pretty much.

I still can't believe people say original without being shamelessly blinded by nostalgia. I played since a month after WoW launch, and you couldn't get me to go back to Classic WoW if you paid me.
