Voted other as no Jo Wyatt or Claudia Black, would have come down to those two and Grey Delisle. Don't really like Jennifer Hale as much as those three.
Thanks for posting a short list of the voices Grey Delisle has done. People don't seem to realize that she's almost as widespread as Tara Strong. Although, even if I had never seen or heard anything she had done besides A:TLA, I'd vote for her because of Azula alone. Because I mean...yeah, the role is just that good.Scorched_Cascade said:Voted Grey DeLisle, her record speaks for itself
Daphne (Scooby Doo, most [all?] versions)
Frankie Foster (Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends)
Jeanette/Therese/Tourette (Vampires the Masquerade: Bloodlines)
Vicky/Tootie/Chad (Fairly Odd Parents)
Akiko (American Dad)
Mandy (Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy)
Sam Manson (Danny Phantom)
Yumi (Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi)
Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Selena Kyle/Catwoman (Arkham City)
I actually looked this up a while back when I heard her voice in a cameo role in Gravity Falls (The shopkeeper at the start of Summerween) and thought "hey, she sounds familiar").
I was actually fairly suprised that some of these were the same person which is a damn good quality in a voice actor. Jeanette sounds nothing like Mandy and nothing like Azula for example.
It seems that she does a lot of behind the scenes work and video game voices. Here's her Imdb page http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0569479/ to see more of what she's done.Aylaine said:I really enjoyed her voice in GITS: SAC/2GiG, too. I don't believe I have seen her in any other series though unfortunately.Stryc9 said:Mary Elizabeth McGlynn because she voiced The Major in GitS:Stand Alone Complex and did an outstanding job of it.![]()
I really don't watch a lot of anime, anything Ghost in the Shell pretty much is all I really pay attention to. Another interesting bit I ran across recently was Amanda Winn Lee who plays one of The Majors girlfriends Kurutan in SAC also voiced the character of Konoko\Mai Hasegawa in Bungie's 2001 game Oni. The Konoko character is very much like The Major in that she's an independent woman who kicks all kinds of ass and predates the purple haired Major by three years.Aylaine said:*Snip*
She did work on a lot of movies too. Not directly but directing certain aspects. Interesting. She also voiced Julia from Cowboy Bebop too? It's almost as if all my Yoko Kanno animes are connected even more now... xD
Crispin Freeman is one of animes leading male voice actors in my opinion. He is seriously everywhere. Haji, Alucard, Hideki, Kyon..so many memorable places he's been. Same goes with Johnny Yong Bosch.![]()
I'd say that Oni took inspiration from Ghost in the Shell and ran with it. If you can find a copy for the PC on eBay or some such you should get it and play it. It had a great hand to hand combat system with all kinds of special moves and combos you would unlock as you progressed. The story while it was pretty hammy wasn't that bad for 2001 standards, it's got plenty of cheesy dialogue and nonsensical techno-babble.Aylaine said:Aww. You might like other animes though.Stryc9 said:Snip
Is that so? I've only heard of Oni - Never played. I wonder if it was an inspiration...
Lisa Ortiz, voice of Lina Inverse and many, many others. Very favorite voice actress ever. I have her autograph. ^^uneek said:Here's something that should make for an interesting poll. I've noticed there were few notable females in voice acting. Since less answers make for a good poll, I decided to make this. Not much else to say. Answers are above, if it's not there pick "Other", yadda yadda yadda. Just, GO!
