Tara Strong got my vote because she's in the most amount of stuff that I like and if I see her name attached to something I usually give it a second look. Just a few examples of the things she was in that I liked.

Killer7- KAEDE Smith
Babar
Beetle Juice
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Drawn Together
The Boondocks
Samurai Jack
Afro Samurai
Lollipop Chainsaw (Didn't care much for what I played of the game, but I enjoyed her character for reasons other than the obvious)
Psychonauts

While she's not always a big presence in everything on my list, she's still apart of things I like.

I was thinking Hale for Mass Effect, but chose Strong for... doing pretty much every other female voice I enjoy.

Other than Cortana. Who voices Cortana?
Jen Taylor, at least in the games. The animated Halo movies had a different woman for both Halsey and Cortana.

Grey DeLisle for one character Princess Motherfucking Azula. Now that is a crazy psycho. Her role in Avatar is what sets her apart from the rest.

Runners up is Hale for femshep and Ms. Marvel. Tara Strong for Quinn, Twilight, and Raven

I am sorely, sorely disappointed at the lack of recognition for Nancy Cartwright. Of course she's most well known for playing Bart Simpson, but she's been in many other shows and movies [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Cartwright] including Animaniacs.

I do like Hale's work as femShep, and I appreciate any good voice actor, but come on, guys. Nancy Cartwright is awesome.

Lack of Ellen McLain up in here. Or the voice of GLaDOS for those unfamiliar.

She made the first game, easily. Wheatly made me laugh more often in the second one, but she was still the stronger voice.

Grey Delisle would be my second choice, though, followed pretty damn closely by Jennifer Hale.

Jennifer Hale. Because of her voice acting, I consider the default protagonist in Mass Effect to be FemShep. I hope someone makes a game like Mass Effect again, with her as the lead character... and market the game with the female protagonist as the default, not the male character.

Oh look, the peasants are unable to acknowledge their true ruler. How amusing.
I'll make a note of all your names for future reference.

Voted "other" as a toss-up between Laura Bailey & Mary McGlynn.
Not at all upset to see Hale in the lead though - go Bastila!

Grey Delisle is the female version of John Dimagio. She's everywhere! But all of those are very talented.

Jennifer Hale. I remember playing femshep in ME1 and i was so impressed by her voice acting that i looked her up online, because i had to know who that voice belonged to. I had never done this before.

No Claudia Black? No Ellen McLain? Daw.

Ellen McLain all the way. Yes, I enjoyed Portal's voice acting THAT MUCH.

She's a live-action actress. She doesn't count, no matter how awesome her voice is.

Ah heh HEM?

At least a third of that page of filmography is video games.
Maybe so, but let's be honest... the only thing that anybody actually knows her from is Fargate and maybe Pitch Black.
FARSCAPE and STARGATE, DAMMIT.

And as for video games, I knew she was in Mass Effect 2, Crysis, and Dragon Age: Origins (she was Morrigan! MORRIGAN!). So do lots of other people. So yes, she does count.

It's for PC? I didn't know that. I'm all about cool special moves and techno-babble. That's a reason I really loved GITS. It was so out there with some of the technologies that it used within the series, but they felt believable to a degree rather then completely over the top. If I can find a PC copy, I will think about buying it. :)

Things are pretty different now though, unless you still have 56k. There's a lot of good streaming websites like crunchyroll around to deliver. :D
Yeah it was on PS2, PC and Mac. According to people on the SomethingAwful thread for that Let's Play the PS2 version suffered from clunky controls and isn't worth it. If you can't or don't like using eBay I recommend hitting local second hand shops for old games like this, that's what I do from time to time and I've found some real gems for around $2. There's also a file you'll have to swap out in order to get it running properly on anything newer than Windows 2000 that'll make it so the beginning and ending cutscenes won't play but you can look them up on youtube. The fix itself isn't that hard to find either as there's still a fairly active Oni community that have made all kinds of graphical upgrades to the game while holding on to hope that Bungie will make Oni 2.

Thanks for crunchyroll suggestion, I'll look into it and see if anything grabs my interest. :)

Tress McNeille, mostly because she's been in the industry for so long (you don't get this much work unless you're actually good) and she has quite a broad range of voices she can do.

If we weren't limiting ourselves to American voice actresses, I'd have to throw my vote in for Aya Hirano, she's not just a great actress, able to play a broad range of character personalities, but she's also one of the few Japanese voice actresses who can put on more than one voice.
Aya Hirano voice is annoying.
Depends on what character she's playing, some can be irritating (Haruhi) and some not (Lumiere). The fact she can play this different characters, is kinda a testament to her skills as an actress.

Hale for being the voice of my Shepard, even ponies can't win out I'm afraid.
