Riding on the back of Baba Yetu ( Main theme for Civ4) winning a grammy is this thread. Simply put, what's your favourite in-game music and why?


For me it's the Halo theme, in it's original form, it still gives me shivers when I hear it ^_^

Poll and Title seem completely unrelated to me. saw the edit. However, the music in Chrono Trigger remains my favorite soundtrack of all time...

The music from Super Mario RPG is also awesome.

What edit? The only indication that a poll and title are linked is in the way that the escapist names threads. The naming policy does not therefore guarantee a link, it's just an assumption you lot make.

Yeah, the TimeSplitters music is awesome. But for me, I hat to be cliched, but I still love One Winged Angel. 7 isn't even my favorite FF (everyone knows 5 is the best), but that song, when done properly, just gets me. In fact, the Final Fantasy series has always had great music.

So does Castlevania.

Geometry Wars 2..Soundtracks fit perfectly with their gametypes.

I remember a soundtrack on Formula 1 on the PS1, the one with the Murray Walker commentary and it was just awesome. It was all instrumentals done by some band exclusively for the game and they were really good. Better than any of the more modern sports and racing game soundtracks.

Someone has to say Zelda just for iconic purposes. Personally tough, the main theme from Metal Gear Solid 2. The most patriotic song ever, and I am NOT very patriotic. Could listen to that song for hours.

The Dawn of War 2 music is pretty damn awesome. Specifically "angels of death" and "khaine's wrath"
And ALL the music from the chaos rising expansion.

OT: IMO Mass Effect 1 had an amazing soundtrack
The music just fits the game and story perfectly, and it sounds good too, especially this one

The music in Alan Wake was perfect, I thought.

It really helped give the feel of the game being episodic with the end songs.
