I rented this movie once called Vlad the Impailer on the origin of dracula. It was more of a historical retelling of the Romanian prince his was tactics, governing skills and his eventual excommunication from the church and death. It ended with a scene of his crypt with the coffins lid sliding open. it wasn't a documentary it was an actual movie but i'm not sure if it counts here. Buffy the vampire slayer was funny and I also enjoyed the Underworld trilogy.

Daybreakers. But then again, I hate vampires, so it's amazing that I even like one vampire movie.

30 days of night.

Dracula Dead and loving it.

Dracula 2000(Its just so dumb its awesome!)

The first Underworld, couldn't stand the other two.

Then there was one about a man hunting down the vampire line who turned him. Consuming serum to stay normal, who teams up wit ha recently bitten girl and some other random guy. Yes. vague. I know. But its all i can remember.

I was never really a die hard fan of Vampire movies even before Twilight, but if I had to pick the best Vampire movie that I've seen in a long time that actually came out relatively recently it would have to be Daybreakers.

It was funny, impressive and wildly original, I liked it a lot and it made me have a new image for how Vampires would be. It was awesome.

Options 6 and 7 were included for the lulz. I couldn't possibly include all the worthy vampire movies, so I just kind of put a smattering of what I thought represented all the worthy genres.

For the record, here are movies that I would have included in a more complete poll:

Let the Right One In (Great movie and should have included it over Vampires, probably)
Nosferatu (A great movie but I didn't think many people would even know what it was)
The Lost Boys (its like the 80s threw up on a vampire movie, mostly like it for nostalgia)
Daybreakers (haven't actually seen this one yet but heard its good
30 Days of Night (okay but wasn't too impressed with it, I did love that it made some pretty terrifying vamps though)

Blade (I'd include it because I know people like it, but I think all 3 are fucking terrible. The first would be okay if they didn't go all mid-90s CG in the climax.)

Underworld (again would include for others' sake. I hate how much it rips off from White Wolf and World of Darkness but Kate Beckinsale is pretty badass)

I don't see Nosferatu here. Neither the Murnau version nor the Herzog version. This compels me to be thoroughly displeased in various ways.

Seriously, Murnau's version is a classic German Expressionist film, and Herzog really knows how to film a scene. Both are top-notch in my book.
I am aware of the movie, but didn't think it warranted a spot in the poll. I didn't peg Escapist members as big fans of German Expressionism from the 1920s.

Daybreakers was pretty good. Of course Bladerunner. Wanna see the classics though.

I liked this movie a lot, but wouldn't think of it as a vampire movie since its mostly trying to be a history of Vlad Tepes (at least until the end). Interesting that you mention Buffy, since the guy who played Vlad in the historical movie also played Dracula in the Buffy series.

Why did you include Twilight
Because I hate how people make idiotic remarks like "Twilight vampires aren't REAL vampires!" They're just as much vampires as any other fictional bloodsuckers. The only thing I actually like about the Twilight Saga is that it used the vampire mythos in a new and creative way to introduce it to a new audience. I'd prefer MORE experimentation in established genres, not less.

Twilight is bad because its poorly written, poorly acted, and manipulative. It is not bad because it doesn't have 'real vampires'.

I picked the option that said the fact that you even included Twilight makes me want to castrate you (I'm paraphrasing)

If I didn't pick that, I'd have picked Lugosi... he's frakkin' awesome!

I liked Shadow of the vampire or whatever that Willem Dafoe one was called.
That is Shadow of the Vampire and is one of my favorite vampire movies of all time. I figured it was a little too obscure for the poll, though.

For those that don't know, Shadow of the Vampire is a fictional 'behind the scenes' of the making of Nosferatu, where the director (John Malkovich) hires a real vampire (Willem DaFoe) to be in his vampire movie. Great stuff.
