Are you a fan of this change? Personally I am kinda upset, one of the things I really liked about Bioshock 1 & 2 is that you had all your weapons with you, upgraded over time, each weapon had special meaning and uses that you developed with experience. I would really like to see an option for the full arsenal, especially for the 1999 mode, considering doom, and duke nukem, never had a pansy weapon limit either :D

It sucks, yeah. I'd like it if the weapons got bits added to them like in the original too. Still, not a game breaker, Infinite is damn good.

I like it a lot. The limit adds a minor strategic element and makes the game feel less arcady. And it makes it easier for me to think of the protagonist as an actual human being instead of a pack mule with a bag of holding.

I rarely ever used anything except the machine gun or shotgun in the first, and the wrench was the best weapon in the game anyway.

I don't mind two-weapon limits, so long as they either -
[ul][li]Provide you with the ammo you need[/li]
or
[li]Provide you with alternate weapons around in an area where you might run out of ammo.[/li][/ul]

I think it could be neat to maybe need to scavenge to find a weapon with ammo while you're being pummeled around. Don't know if that's anything they do, since I won't be getting the game until later tonight, but even if it's not I've never had a problem with two-weapon limits in other shooters. It only ever feels stifling in situations like Borderlands where they put a bunch of weird, unique effects on guns like scatterwave shotguns or heavy repeater pistols that fire exploding needles.

Well sadly it's become another dog pile on the driveway of FPS games everyone eventually steps into and then can't get rid of, but hey I didn't come solely for combat so the stench can be ignored.

And it does add that air of amusement when people start to imagine how this is realistic and more tactical...

Wait...

so carrying every weapon in the game is more realistic than carrying two guns?

It matters not the degree of "realism", it's a bloody video game featuring a flying city.
Just as something like Call of Duty is a bloody video game that ill simulates real life.

A two weapon system does not realism make, but people will argue that it's more realistic/tactical despite the latter not at all being necessarily true and the earlier, for the most part, being irrelevant lest the game harp itself as a simulation title.

Having two guns just seems like an excuse to pander to a particular audience, restrict freedom of play and remove the cool upgrade system from the earlier installments. Still a smashing game, though.

I was actually surprised that there wasnt that big of a fan reaction to the weapon limit. I guess when the rest of the game is supposedly fantastic (havent played it yet, myself), it makes up for a small contrivance from other shooters. Though personally, I will always prefer being able to carry all my weapons, especially since it forces the developer to make each gun unique in its functionality.

I hope some clever modder will find a way to remove the restriction. It's a U3 engine game after all. I may try to do something when my game arrives.

Bioshock 1 did it better. You picked which weapons you were drip-fed new weapons as needed, and had to prioritize which ones you wanted to use more via the upgrade stations.

Which isn't to say 2-weapon limits are bad. Left4Dead (especially L4D2) gets it just right.

Yeah i'm not sure why they did that. There was nothing wrong with the weapon wheel before. I'd be happy with a 3/4 weapon limit though. At least then theres room to have a more specialised set. It almost feels like they did it so elizabeth had more things to throw at you.

Very odd, since the shock games have always been about getting creative during combat.

I think if it helps add intensity to the combat, it could work.

Don't have a problem with it. I'm sure the designers had a reason for establishing a two weapon limit other than "Dohoho, we're gonna take away the players toys just to piss him off."

Intensely dislike. It's one of the few issues that's making me cautious about buying it from the start. So there are all these awesome, creative weapons, but you can only carry two at a time? Bullshit! Traditional FPS-RPG inventory management is fun and I enjoy carrying around a variety of weapons to use as I see fit. You're still forced to choose a certain setup, but what if say, I want to carry a variety of light weapons which take up less space than a rocket launcher and a sniper rifle? Can't do that. A two-weapon limit doesn't make any sense for more flexible playstyles.

It's not that bad. I honestly think they had to put it in there so as not to make you a tank. You'd be unstoppable if you could hold every weapon.

But the original Bioshock pulled this off fine, without any problems. It can work, y'know.
You didn't have a companion constantly throwing you ammo though.

I'm not that bothered by it, there's always weapons lying around if you need to switch, and Lizzie usually throws in some useful little things to help. Makes you think about the tactical use of Vigor's more though, noticing more situations to use them in recently.

One thing I'm not happy about is these damn George Washington Terminators. Now THEY are a pain in the arse.

I don't really mind. I've never really used more then a handful of weapons and plasmids in the Bioshock games. I find my favorites and stick with them. In Bioshock it was mainly the Pistol and Wrench, and in Bioshock 2 mainly the Drill and the Rivet Gun. Every now and then I would use a different weapon if it caught my fancy. Sometimes I enjoyed freezing the crap out of people with the Chemical Weapon, but all in all I never had much reason to not use the weapons stated earlier.

In Bioshock Infinite my staple weapons so far are the Sniper Rifle and the Machine Gun.

Besides weapons drop so often that there is rarely a moment when you can't get your hands on a certain weapon type. And quite often Elizabeth can find a tear for specific weapons, so I really don't see the problem.
