Listen, I know all about politics because we sometimes talk about them around the watercooler at work, so I think I know what I'm talking about when I say that Commies and "socialists" are exactly the same thing. As to the rest of what you said, you must not watch Fox news, if you really have no idea what he's doing that's so wrong.

I recommend you get some education on the subject before you try to teach someone as smart as me about it.

- J
-I've just studied Communism in my GCSEs
-You SOMETIMES talk about it?
-Fox News? I'm British and I even know not to listen to them
-Again, I'm British, please explain why giving everyone free healthcare in an attempt to lower child mortality and increase life expectancy is so, so utterly evil and satanic.

EDIT: And you said yourself that you don't know what Socialist means...
He wasn't being serious...
I...bu...who...7...what...really? Hang on, not serious about what?
Tiredinnuendo. His entire post was not meant to be taken seriously, and you raged about it.
Well, sorry, but it's kinda hard to tell in text. My apologies (and it wasn't THAT much of a rage, otherwisee there would've been exclamation marks...erm...!!!)

Happening here in Nebraska too. Typically its parents freaking out and making connections that aren't there because of news mediums that aren't quite there either.

Any who there is no danger in letting children watch a presidents speech no matter who is president. Any sort of fear of political indoctrination is not only absurd, but largely unfounded.

Have you got a link for this? I haven't heard about it.
Here's a google search [http://news.google.com/news?q=Texas+uproar+over+Obama+speech&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&ei=YtyhSsuiMsvilAfB8pX1CA&sa=X&oi=news_group&ct=title&resnum=1] that lists plenty of freak outs.

South Carolina, that gleaming jewel of education and good sense, is also furiously straining to shit a brick sideways about this.

Plenty of Presidents have spoken to school children in the past. Texans are just freaking out because it is Obama and he is a "socialist". Which is really not a bad thing if it were really true.

Don't worry, this is Texas we're talking about. Remember, they tried to secede from the United States after Obama became President. This whole ordeal will be forgotten soon.
There is actually still a movement in Texas to secede from the Union.

As if America would just let Texas leave the Union. What a fucking joke! Shows just how damned ignorant they really are!

EDIT: Not all Texans, just the ones who think that they have a snow balls chance in hell from seceding from America.
Whoa, is Texas your Quebec?

Ah, I see what this is about. So what, a few crazies think Obama is the antichrist. And, Obama has a name, right? So how about we call him that instead of "black man".
He was trying to make a point that racism still exists in our country.
Thank You Mr. Pandah

What are they afraid he'll say to them? Something about the war? Or the economy? Or health care? What the hell could he say to them that could be construed as partisan political rhetoric that children can understand?
I believe he's going to talk on the state of American education... Why else would he want to talk to students?
Maybe he is moonlighting as an Army Recruiter, they did that while I was in SKOOL.

the reason people are pissed is because he's going to be directing propaganda directly to children. So far presidents and politicians in general have had the class to not try directly indoctrinating children at school.

The parents have a problem with his "socialist" views, not with the colour of his skin. It's like me saying "Alan Carr isn't that funny" and someone replying with "you homophobe".
The title got your attention, did it not?[
so why not call it "Obama exposes himself to hundreds of children via webcam"?
Damn I wish I thought of that. Ninja'd

(Sigh)Things like this make me kinda ashamed to be from Texas
Could be worse, I live in a state so blue you need a permit to just think about the second amendment. I'd go to Texas just to know what it's like to do whatever you like as long as you don't break the law. Can't even buy smokes at a pharmacy anymore, I don't smoke but that is still annoying to think it is even harder to start.

I see how the title of this thread assumes the reason Texans (and conservatives by extension) are freaking out is that the man is black. How typical that a liberal's knee-jerk response is to accuse his opponent of racism at the outset of an argument.

Mr. Obama's policies make me sick. If I had kids, I wouldn't let them anywhere near him or his voice without me there providing guidance. And for saying that, I'm automatically accused of being racist.

Well, I voted for a black man in the Republican primary, and you know what? That shouldn't mean anything. That trivial fact should be completely useless, because a man's race has nothing to do with the content of his character. But you race-baiters who constantly go around playing that card whenever you can't think of a coherent response are the problem. You're the ones who are making people like me, with legitimate grievances, waste our and everyone else's time rebutting that ridiculous accusation with otherwise meaningless trivia about how many non-white friends or candidates we support. You outta be ashamed.

People act like the absurd hate from the previous 8 years never happened. It's like the disrespect and name calling of decent people was just a tale of old.

If the left doesn't agree with criticism, they call it racism. It's easy to discredit people if you can label them racists.

The problem many have with Obama's decision to give speeches to the schools stems more from the political message he's going to state and the leading Q&A afterwards. Schools need to be politics free and this particular speech is going to contain parts of his political agenda. That's why people are upset. Most presidents don't do this because young minds are more impressionable to things they don't understand if somebody important tells them things. Mist presidents keep their speeches towards students neutral.
here's a taste of political math.
If you have a conservative christian white republican president than dissent equals being unpatriotic and must be ostracized by any means, if you have a black liberal president than dissent
equals [HEADING=3]facepalm[/HEADING]

Almost every time he tries to use reason with a republican. Obama must really love America because I would have said "Fuck it! I am going to Canada!" by now.

All he's gonna do is encourage kids to stay in school. You cannot rationalize with conservatives.
Hey, not all conservatives are unreasonable. Saying you can't reason with them is like saying everyone who enjoys chocolate uses exclamation marks too often. Sure, there are a few, maybe many, but they're not the entire group of people.

Obama is new, many people are still adjusting to the changeover.

Lots of this outcry looks like peoples' different ways of coping with that change. Even if it is something like saying Obama is trying to indoctrinate modern youth into his way of doing things.

When the House and Senate is primarily democratic than we get to call the Republicans racist for disagreeing the same way they got to call democrats unpatriotic for disagreeing when they had control of the House and Senate. This is basically a game of king of the hill when the kids on top get to say "Neener neener neener your on the bottom! Hahahahahahah!"
Never take an elected official serious it only encourages them.

Well I for one believe that Obama is a SOCIALIST! And just because I don't actually know what that means doesn't mean that I don't know it's a bad thing. There's a reason we used to call people "commies" to insult them, after all.
- J
You just made me /facedesk from the sheer stupidity of that statement.
The only reason the West looks at socialism/communism is because it's different from the traditional capitalism. Dislike towards the two ideologies (socialism and communism are different from each other, so a "commie" is probably not a socialist) is pure xenophobia.

It seems to me that this uproar is based on the same irrational fear of governmental indoctrination.
