I live in Canada and I find it strange when people get mad at me for saying Black. Black is not a racist term. Besides they don't live in America so they can't be African American.
actualy canada is in america, so is mexico, the whole continent is called the americas, ppl tend to think US when we say america since the word america is in the name
Yes, but did you consider South America in the Americas, NO! You left them out, without even a mention!

Black, just like I call Caucasians white. "Black" isn't the racist term people make it out to be. Would you prefer I be more precise in my colors and call you "brown"? Won't you just twist that to make it sound like I am calling you shit?

well its a simple question, do you call black people black or african america? and why?
Its kind of obvious what I call them, black. The reason I just call them black is that technicly we are all from africa and calling them african american has always seemed racist to me, I mean its saying they are african before they are american and most of them have family lines that go back futher then alot of white ppl.
I call people by their names if I know them.

If I don't know the person I don't call them anything.

No but Brown is usually a term for people from east asia, and north east africa. If you need further explaining, why not a racist term, Sand People.

I also recently started referring to South African fighter jets as NiGs, that's how horrible I am.
Great now I'm gonna start doing that.

I use black because it's easy and like as been said before many black people aren't from Africa. Also technically I guess since one side of my family goes back to egyptian jewish I would technically be an african american despite being really white. It's those little technicalities that are why the term "African American" is stupid. Guess you could shorten it and just call them "American"?

I once when younger offended a white American, by using the term "Negro" and "Fag". Now bear in mind, I'm Australian, when I said "fag" I mean a cigarette and when I said "Negro" I wasn't aware of how offensive it was in an American context.

In Australia and the UK where slavery was abolished much earlier than the USA and where there was never formal segregation (ignoring mistreatment of indigenous populations for the moment) the term negro doesn't carry much offensive and really it's rarely used. It's like the blackface skit on channel nine, we as a culture find that less offensive because we don't feel guilty for slavery/segregation, so we make fun of everyone equally, that said the skit wasn't really funny to begin with.

Also an interesting thing is Negro is offensive in Italian, but simply black in Spanish.

Well, the back story is I was at the business of that argument and I just couldn't win because they thought I was racist with every term I used. So now I say "black" and if they think it is racist then it is their problem.

you can be african american and white
you can be black but not american

but be prepared to undergo sensitivity training should you distinguish paper as white and colored, as opposed to white and non white.

Now if you will excuse me. I have to go back to squeezing my infected ear piercings while sobbing like a little ***** with a skinned knee.
Wait, what?
I recently got my ear pierced. Turns out. Although I am not really allergic to silver I am when it is a open wound. So my earlobe has swollen soo fat that the damn stud just popped inside the damn earlobe. I have squeezed the shit out of it so it has now shrunk again.
I will now slather it with antiseptic cream and put in a ring then get a Bioflex earring tomorrow morning.
And understandably it hurts. So I am being a little ***** about it.
what? did they pierce your ear with a silver stud?

Black. ITS A FUCKING COLOUR. Every single time I say 'black' in any context AT ALL, everyone around me goes on about racism for hours.

yeah well they dont have our proud history of being really really nasty to ppl of darker skin.... at least in as recent a history. Its ironic, in a land that is known as the free, every group aside from prodistant white men have had to fight tooth and nail for their rights.

For me, Black covers all people of a certain skin color and is a term I utilize merely for physical description of people. African-American gives connotations of actually being a recently naturalized person born within the African continent, WHITES and other people born in Africa included.

Ya. Thats how they do it. Load the stud into the little gun and BAM.
I can tell you. Trying to pry the damn thing out in the shower with worthless tweezers and no finger nails was not fun.
i have both my ears pierced, i think they used Tungsten due to the fact it is so unreactive, it definatley wasn't silver. lucky that because i have severe reaction to silver. only found that out when someone brought me a silver necklace, was not fun i can tell you.
