If there's armor and armor piercing in the game, I prefer the mace. However, if it's just a straight up slugfest and RL effects aren't considered, I'll take a good old sword.

If it's Eastern then bladed for sure but in Western I might use a mace/war hammer depends on how badass it is.

the only recent rpg i've played is oblivion, and i chose blade because i was a stealth character, but then the times came when i wanted to hit things to blunt objects and i had such a disadvantage against the monsters,

i do hope that they make it into one melee skill in skyrim,

Blades in RPGs, Blunt in real life. Don't want to fight a bunch of enemies when my blade gets stuck in someone's ribs. Ugh.

A hammer. With bladed sides. Muhahahahahahahaha.

Even though that still counts as a Blunt weapon.

In RL, blades provide greater potential damage relative to weight, cutting jugulars, tendons and whatnot.
But blunt weapons can easily take down a man in any kind of armour with a well placed strike.
I'm lazy, so a blade.

When you get cut, there's a sting. Often there's not much pain, and it's a lot harder to do permanent damage, but that sting is what makes bladed weapons so delightful.

Blades, since game designers usually make the blunt weapons worse.
High crit ranges? It's an uncommon blade. Most magical? It's always a sword.

RPG or any scenario: blades.

Blunt objects are for simians, blades are inherently superior.

POLEARMS
where are those?
though, if available i like pick glaive-like weapons, and for the sake of this poll those are more bladed than blunt.

I would have said blades up until I've seen shows like Deadliest Warrior where you see the impact of a mace or flail on armour. Blunt wins for me these days.

it depends on the era, when full plate Armour was becoming the norm blades became less effective because they couldn't stab very well because the plate would deflect, chain mail made slashing attacks useless so heavy weapons grew popular, hammers to crush plate and picks to pierce Armour.
