Hey, I was just interested to know how many people do read on this forum? How often do you read, how many books, genre of book etc if you do, and if you don't why don't you read at all? And yes obviously I'm sorry if this topic has been done before, but the search bar is definately not my friend ¬,¬.

Books are great, but due to a stupid daily routine i dont normally get more than a few mins in per night, and then i normally lose the page by the next day so i have to read untill i find the page i was on which takes away from the time and... ITS REALLY SLOW.

I really love books. A lot. I prefer fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, and just plain history (I know, I'm a nerd).

For anyone who's interested, I recommend A Song of Ice and Fire, The Wheel of Time, Dune, Chesapeake, London, His Dark Materials, Sailing to Sarantium, The Dante Club, uh....okay I'm starting to ramble.

Sorry, I'm having trouble here: How can you not read on a forum?

I know what you mean though, and I would say yes, yes I do.

By the way; can we move this to Off-Topic?

I don't read as often as I'd like, but I'm doing better at getting around to it than I was a few years ago. Hurray for libraries!

I just finished the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy. The fifth book is kinda weird, but if nothing else, there's one scene that completely justifies its existence to me. Still, I must say that the first book is the best by far.

Another book I read recently was Assassination Vacation, by Sarah Vowell. It's about the first three assassinated American presidents and various amusing things the author found when visiting places related to them. Maybe it doesn't sound that exciting, but it combines history and humor in a way that reminds me of Kate Beaton [http://beatonna.livejournal.com/], though of course not exactly the same.

So, yeah, generally I read fiction from my ever-growing list of books to read (usually recommended by friends), though occasionally I'll pick up something different. I also try to read something in Spanish every so often, even if it's just a translated Harry Potter book.

I'm pretty fond of books [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.83385]. [small](Shameless plug)[/small]

I don't favour a particular genre but I haven't really entered into the world of sci-fi and fantasy very much, well, since I was a child anyway. I'm collecting books as I go, but I acquire them faster than I can read them, perhaps I'll get some time to read more after I graduate though.

As for when, I couldn't really say. Some weeks I'll read three novels in a week, then nothing for a while. I couldn't say how many books I've read as I've read so many. It must be over a hundred now, but by how much I really couldn't say.

Ah well, the forum isn't as illiterate as I once feared, I basically created this thread to wonder why no one wrote book reviews as well as game reviews in the review section ^^ I tried and failed to recieve a single reply :/ lol

I read Sci fi, fantasy and dabble in anything depending on how it's written. I read whenever I feel like it or when something really great comes out, same as gaming.

If you're looking for a good review check out the Nation review by Ultrajoe. It's quite good.

Yeah I read fantasy pretty much exclusively. Though I branch out the odd time.

Favourite series is the Farseer Trilogy and the Tawny Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb.

Few other favourite authors are Raymond E. Feist, David Gemmell, Terry Goodkind, Terry Brooks... loads of others. I only wish I'd never read "The Pillars of Creation" by Terry Goodkind as I just can't get back into "The Sword of Truth" series now... stupid damn book. Ruined a wonderful series for me.

Reading "The Baker's Boy" by JV Jones at the minute and it's fantastic. Though in todays world of streaming movies and tv shows in the internet, I don't really spend enough time reading books. I'm trying to get back into it though.

I like to read Science Fiction and Fantasy books. I'm also pretty big into the Tom Clancy books (The Jack Ryan ones, not those ones that weren't actually written by him)

This forum is full of intelligent people, considering that (A) It's on The Escapist and (B) everyone so far has said 'Yes', including myself. Mainly a fan of Sci-Fi/Fantasy, although I also enjoy the Twilight series and humorous fantasy such as Discworld. Also a fan of the Halo novels, although that's because I'm a Halo fanboy (and proud of it!).

R.I.P Michael Crichton who died November 4 2008, brilliant writer. you would all know him after all he did write the best-selling Jurassic Park amongst other things (including Sphere, Prey, The Lost World).

I am also a big Matthew Riely ( I don't know if I spelt his name correctly) fan, especially of his books 7 Ancient Wonders, 6 Sacred Stones, Temple and Ice Station.

I am also intending on reading Heart of Darkness soon and have been for a while, i just havent found it.

Big fan of any and ALL Dean Koontz novels. Some John Grisham too. One of the best books i've ever read is Vernon Little God, its pretty amazing and if you've read it, you will know why it won so many prizes

I've read books from a very young age, and am currently enjoying a number of books by Graham Greene.

This is in the wrong forum.
