My favorite is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

My nostalgic favorite is Alice in Wonderland.

My most recent read was "Guards! Guards!" by Terry Pratchet. Finished yesterday, simultaneously frustrating and hilarious.

As for whats good. Well, I like anyhting by Stephen King, but his Dark Tower series is good.

Brian Jacques' Redwall and Flying Dutchman Series's are good.

Also, I liked Into the Wild

Is the book Into the Wild different enough from the movie to justify reading it if you've already seen the film?

I just got George Orwell's "Animal Farm" as a Christmas present. So far it's an intriguing satire of communism.

It won't stop being that at any point, if that's what you're wondering.

Personally, I found it too depressing (although I did buckle down and finish it).

Kinda? I've never seen the movie, but its a good enough book to give a more looking back historic perspective. I would recommend reading it whether you have or havent seen the movie.

You can't limit the meaning of book to something that has more than 100 words, that's absurd.

But no, I rarely read. I've ordered a few books for myself for Christmas that I expect I'll enjoy. I like reading books that have a good bit of meaning, rather than fiction. That doesn't mean I won't read fiction.

I usually read about 2 books a week, for the moment it is mosly warhammer 40k and wahrammer fantasy books.
But ive read everything from Machiavelli to H.P lovecraft and even Mein kampf.
Right now i got about 500 books in my personal collection and it steadily grows by about 5-6 books every month.
Personally some of my favorite books are anything by Steven Pressfield, anything form Conn Iggulden and perhaps the Malus Darkblade serie by Dan abnett and Mike Lee.
On the subject of warhammer books I really enjoy the Horus heresy serie and the new Nighlords (trilogy?) books.

Kinda? I've never seen the movie, but its a good enough book to give a more looking back historic perspective. I would recommend reading it whether you have or havent seen the movie.

I think the problem is that a lot of people are forcibly exposed to books that are, quite frankly, boring to the novice reader.

Nice Hatchet, I read that in 5th grade along with My side of the Mountain. good lost in the woods teen-survival. brings back memories.
I read short allot of story collections these days I.E McSweeney's or Best short American short fiction (fill in year), easier to get into just one story and finish it in a sitting than needing to spend hours you might not have and stretching a book out over a month.

I loves me some book reading. I'm currently reading Bonk by Mary Roach, which will be followed by either The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan, Genome by Matt Ridley, or Don't Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor. The Joy of Homebrewing is also on that list, but it's currently loaned to a friend right now. I have kind of a big book backlog right now because of a hectic semester, but finals are finished so I'm hoping to get a lot of reading done in the next few weeks.

A good book I would say is Hatchet. It's about a boy who is trapped in the Canadian wilderness.

I loved that book.

OP: I read from time to time, while my tastes are pretty narrow I do enjoy diving into a good book. My favourite one's Mortal Engines and I'm shooting to get my hands on a copy of Pride and Prejudice and zombies (I'm a zombie buff and a friend once brought a copy into school wherein I found that it was actually quite an entertaining read).
