I go through phases where I will read heavily, then not read anything for months at a time. Currently I'm in read mode and have been getting through a shit ton of 40k novels. Since september I've read the entire Gaunts Ghosts series, Grey Knights, Soul Drinkers, Eisenhorn, Ciaphas Cain (first omnibus), and just about finished the first Space Wolf Omnibus. Still got the 2nd ominbuses of both Space Wolves and Ciaphas, then Ravennor and then Titanicus to get through once I'm done with this one too.

Then it's either on to the Horus Heresy series or some more Abnett (I'm thinking either Double Eagle or Iron Snakes, probably both).
I hear you on that, I've recently read The Founding, The Saint (soon to start The Lost), The Grey Knights Omnibus, Helsreach, Rynn's World, Ravenor, and the first three books of the Heresy (REALLY GOOD). Currently reading Legion, as I plan to start an Alpha Legion army.

But I don't only read 40k novels, I also read everything. Personal favourites include Pratchett, and Walter Moers.

And of course I've read several classics, less than I would like, but that can always be rectified.

So 'Yes, I bring one everywhere I go!'. I even brought one to the hairdressers with me today!

I don't read that often anymore, I used to read quite a bit but latley I've been finding it hard to get in to books, even the ones I like I have trouble starting.

Though I'm having the same problems regardless of media latley, if it takes more than a few minuites to get in to I get bored and wander off, I never used to be like this, I blame the internet!
I have the same problem. When it comes to reading, I find that listening to instrumental music on low volume helps. I like to use ear buds as they also block out external distractions. I guess you could use other music, but lyrics distract me.
I'd try that but latley any noise at all pulls me right out of what I'm doing, that is if I'm reading even gentle instrumental music drwas my attention away from my book, also on the rare occasion I actually get in to it someone always bothors me, I know I can't be the only one but I can spend the whole day bored out of my skull doing nothing then the moment I start reading, playing a story heavey game or anything else for that matter, The phone rings, my mate comes over, the dog wants out, some bastard's at the door, the idiot two doors down starts blasting music, the chavs start blasting shitty music right outside my fucking house, the annoying kid from the other next door wants to go on one of my consoles or any number of other distractions.

At this point I think I've developed an aversion to doing things that require attention, It never goes well. :(
Have you tried hiding away at the library for a couple of hours?
Our library is utter shite I'm afraid, the book selection is pathetic and the staff are worse than useless, it is quiet though.

Well, the environment is the important part if your home environment is not conducive to reading.

I read A LOT. And i guess books is the one thing i spend most money for (besides clubs and bars).

And thats besides the stuff i have to read for university.(which are a nice read on their own, 1000years old "english" texts are quite entertaining.)
And yes, i usually read 3 or 4 books simultanously, you are able to watch more than one series at a time, aren't you?

My to-read stack atm consists of

Mogworld
Grey Seer
Grimblades
Malekith
World War Z
Shadowrun:Schattenlehrling
The Philosophy of Punk
Judastöchter
Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter

Perhaps I should murder all these annoyances, or I could buy earplugs I guess...

Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain was an amazingly entertaining read. Even if you aren't into food or cook or restaurants(I know I'm not), this book is fucking great.

I may just be biased because Anthony Bourdain is my philosophical idol, but I highly recommend it.

I used to be quite a voracious reader. I'd get into trouble in grade four for trying to read during class, and for grades 5 and 6, I'd spend my time sitting near the library reading (sometimes with the cat who lived at the school on my lap). At home, I'd often be in the process of reading about 3 different novels at once, yet everytime the MS Readathon came along, I seemed to get tired of books for a bit. Never quite made sense to me, but then I guess I'm just contrary like that.

High school saw me spending most of my time in the library, mainly to get away from the extensive bullying and escape into reading (not that it always worked).

I started off with Anne McCaffrey although, unusally, her Dragonrider books were ones I avoided reading for years. I remember re-reading Voyage of The Dawn Treader on winter afternoons with a mug of tea. Plus a lot of Asimov, some Harry Harrison, Ursula K LeGuinn and Terry Pratchett, and those are just the authors I remember. Oooh, Diane Duane's So You Want To Be A Wizard? was a good book, but mainly I read sci-fi.
later on I read most everything by David Eddings, and any bits and pieces that looked interesting on the shelves.

I have read all of Harry Potter, but I didn't really like the way the series got progressively darker.

These days I tend to read fanfiction more than actual books, but I am hoping to build up my collection once more. (I just got 10 books for Christmas, off my amazon.co.uk wishlist, yay).
One day I'd like to own all the Terry Pratchett novels, I just don't know where I'll find space for all of them though. (I used to fantasize about having a large house with a library room.)

Before I moved out of the house, the last books I read were the X-Wing Rouge Squadron books, especially the ones by Aaron Allston. Luckily my parents and I have always had a pretty good overlap in reading intrests, and as a family we built up quite a collection. I still remember on our big US holiday, going into a second-hand bookstore in Nevada and buying up a large stack of books (lots of the Issac Asimov's Robot City novels)and us all being happy at how cheap the pile came out as.

Books have been a great part of my life for so long. Mainly because like dogs and cats, they're better company than most humans. (And growing up, I went from not really getting kids my age to being a teenager that actively despised anyone else my own age).

So yeah, books = good, even if my current mistress tends to be the wide electronic world of fanfiction.

I frequently carried a paperback every time I left my dwelling, until I got my first PDA. From then on I've never left the house without a half-dozen e-books. Being able to read whenever I have a few minutes to spare is fantastic.

I used to read a lot of books, like at the bare minimum one a week. But now I don't read so many, I do still voraciously devour any book I'm given or borrow, but I don't buy books as often or borrow them from libraries anymore.

What I do read a phenomenal amount now is comics, mainly colleced editions. But I do like to keep up with some current events.

Actually though what I am reading at the moment is a collection of short stories called "Zombies Versus Unicorns" which is surprising good, I got it for christmas.

What I did enjoy was a dorm neighbour had a lot of the thin James Bond paperbacks they were small enough to carry in a back pocket everywhere. Waiting for Nandos = ten minute read.

I like books and reading the only problem is that I am dyslexic so reading is slightly more difficult than for everyone else so it is not relaxing and requires some effort.
I'm very sorry to hear that. Do you ever use audiobooks?
No I get bored and start doing something else and miss half the book or fall asleep.

Oh, I love reading. What was that most excellent once I read recently...

Aha! It was called, 'Shades of Grey.' That was excellent.

But yes, I started when I was quite young and still find it excellent. My mother and father and older brother are all into reading too, so we all share books and it works well.

I quite like Simon Scarrow books, remind me of Sharpe but for Rome.

Black Library books are also good.

By "books," I mean a Kindle, but I carry one with me almost everywhere.

I love to read. I've got like 6 million books on my Kindle now. Rereading the Hitchhiker's Guide series right now.

I usually read between 6 and 10 books a year. Not much, I know, but more than anyone else I know in my demographic. Of the 6 to 10, 4 to 6 will be non-fiction if it helps.
