I really enjoyed ODST's opening level played at a friends - that level, at least, was a nice shift in pace from Halo 3's invulnerable run-n-gun, and Hunters are freaking SCARY! (in a narrow corridor... stairs behind me leading to a dead end... only the AI's refusal to venture too far in saved my ass as I unloaded just about everything I had into him. Then went outside and found his partner...)

I've heard mixed things about Boarderlands, but I guess people above place it higher. If you're really into Halo, though, I'd go for ODST. Just cos ;~)

Borderlands was really dull to me, I just couldn't get into it. If you like Halo get ODST, but otherwise dont buy either, ODST is made for Halo fans and Borderlands was a snorefest.

Do you own a working copy of Halo 3?

If you do, buy Borderlands.

Borderlands definitely has more replay value unless you aren't already in on Halo's multiplayer. I rented ODST to beat the campaign and was thoroughly satisfied with my choice.

I voted Borderlands, but your choice really depends on how you game.

Even though ODST's campaign was really short, I still found it to be the more enjoyable one player experience than Borderlands, which is quite the grinder. If you play online though, then Borderlands wins hands down.

it's really a shame that ODST's Firefight doesn't have a matchmaking Lobby.

there a million generic shooters, out there, i don't care what you say border lands is like a generic shooter with shitty rp system.

get napoleon total war. played halo you played them all with less weapon options.
Was there really any need to post twice saying to get Napoleon total war?

And if Borderlands is a generic shooter then Napoleon total gay (see what I did there?) is just a generic RTS with recycled features from previous Total Fail (I'm good at this) games.

I've heard both were pretty meh. But I've heard that ODST is an atrocity more so than Borderlands (though, Borderlands looks pretty good to me, at least).

some buddy got the case of nerd rage. but ill give you points for the last total war game was fail. but not as fail as a game where its only fun to play online, but yet screws you over if you try to play it online on a pc. by screw you ever i mean get a lot of play and progress done than host leaves and you just wasted a lot of time.

Borderlands. Buy ODST when it's dropped to budget price or something.
IRONY!
I missed that. Giant-sized lulz at this.

OT: I enjoyed ODST's single player game. In fact, it's one of the strongest in the franchise, but gauging by your picks for games here OP I'm guessing that single player isn't really your concern.

ODST is pretty fun (I've clocked a few hours in Firefight) but really, if you have only enough for one game, go for Borderlands. It'll last you a lot longer.

None, hold onto your money until the end of the week and buy BattleField Bad Company 2. ODST is short, and with the DLC's you'd have to download those on top, and even then I find it starts getting dull after a couple hours.

Definetely Borderlands. Play it with a friend and it's more addictive than crack and heroin put together. It has reached the status I call herocrack.

While nerd rage is quite a possibility, I'm abosultley sick and tired of people bashing on ANYTHING without even the slightest attempt at justifying it. Yes, Yahtzee hates everything but atleast he gives reason as to why he feels that way.

Its easier to just say grow the fuck up and act like a proper gamer and play the single player first rather than crowd following sheep and playing solely for the multiplayer. The multiplayer is probably better in Borderlands played with friends and progressing through the story togther, I wouldn't know as multiplayer isn't my thing.

Also, just for what you said i'm gonna go pirate Napoleon total war rather that buying it, if this is the type of people it attracts then The Creative Assembly / Sega / Whoever else don't deserve my money.

well that's pretty mature of you, i pissed you off so you think the best way of getting back at me is breaking the law. sure did put me in my place, and i gave you my reason why not to get border lands, in pc you can get screwed if the host leaves, you lost all your progress.

Borderlands was not any fun for me. ODST I've not yet played. I'd suggest Bioshock 2 above them both however.

also on a side note, xavier, how do you justify steeling in such a way, this company does not deserve my money so im just going to steel from them, it be like saying Sony does not deserve my money so im going to steel my next tv from them. and you say people like me is what is wrong, i think people like you is what is wrong with this world.

Borderlands has a kick ass multiplayer and all but for a game to be good and hold its own it needs to have a good story and a good single player. Both of which were sadly lacking from the game. ODST on the other hand has a multiplayer disk with on the maps on it, good gameplay, hours of multi time with friends, the REACH beta and Firefight.
