I've had mine for over 2 years now but they should be coming off this christmas. Not saying that they were that bad (although getting them tightend was and when they snapped which hapened twice) but I could not have asked for a better gift for Christmas.

I had 'em, and feel your pain. Shit, I was eating soup for two days after a tightening. Crazy. I hated getting em tightened...atleast the orthadontist had game gear.

Despite having had severe overbite, I only had braces on for a few months, with zero complications. Lucky me, I suppose.

I had friends who had them for much longer, with far less noticable results.

I broke my retainer and some of my teeth are now messed up again. May have to get them again.

I have braces. I've had them for about a month and they're still pissing me off because i can't use my front teeth for biting. I can just barely get them into a spongecake.

I do, just got a chain a couple of days ago and they're still sore, especially since I had to play my sax today. I should get them off in the next few months though, and god knows I can't wait.

They're actually not too bad, pain wise. The first month and the next few tightenings suck, but eventually they just stop hurting. Although the chain ALWAYS sucks for the first day or two. Mostly though, I just want to get them off because they make me look sort of childish.

I had them, glad they are off. I knew people who didnt brush their teeth enough and they now have permanently stained teeth, so brush on.

I had braces for a while. I don't regret it. Sure, it hurt every now and then, but the stigma against braces is gone, they're so commonplace that people rarely make fun of you about them. And the payoff is worth it for someone as obsessed with being attractive as I am. The feeling of having a perfect smile is amazing.

I never had them, i don't really feel any hatred or liking towards them. But spider monkeys see intricate metalwork as a threat and will scratch your face off.

I don't have braces but I have many friends who have/had them. From what I hear, they are a pain in the ass so I hope I never need a pair.

I should have had them off a year or two ago, but I never got them on in the first place.

My teeth are absolutely AWFUL.

I hated braces so much, I've had too many problems with them. First I couldn't play the trumpet without spitting blood (I don't know how others did it) and I have a slight overbite so when I closed my mouth I would bite off my lower braces. The orthodontist then took put caps on my teeth that prevented me from closing my mouth all the way so I could no longer chew food for half a year. Also they never cut the wires properly, I would either have to deal with the wire digging into my gums (I actually had a hole in my mouth when it was removed) or when they cut the wire they also cut my gum. I was so close to biting off the persons finger when they did that.

Spoiler: Also people with perfect teeth always creepy me out a little.

Never had braces myself, since I don't need them apparently, but my sister just got braces and it seems pretty tough for her. She can barely eat anything and she has to get them tightened every month. Also they had to like, extract teeth just to put them in or something. Which must've been pretty painful. I can only hope it's worth it.

A lot of my friends at school right now have braces, and they've told me horrible stories, like going to sleep and waking up with a mouth full of blood because the metal scraped against the sides of their mouth.

I need braces, but I play the trumpet, so I can't get them. The braces would slice open my lips every time I played which would ruin the sound.

I get mine off in two years. They aren't horribly bad but the only thing that bugs me is that water is more of a cleaning agent rather than a drink now.

Braces were only one part of my dental nightmares. Before I got them, I had to get 6 baby teeth pulled and wait for the adult ones to come in. Then I had to wear this dorky headgear for a few months to correct something that was wrong with my upper jaw. It looked pretty similar to what Jimmy from Ed Edd n' Eddy has.

Then after that I got braces and had those in for almost three years. It was pretty difficult to brush behind the brackets, and when the braces where finally off we found out I had permanent white marks on my teeth where the brackets used to be where the enamel has worn away. I need to use special toothpaste to minimize the appearance. I still have a retainer I need to wear each night.

braces are a pain in the ass especially if you were told you would be getting them off in febuary and then they push the date back 3 more times until mid september when school starts up again

I had them for around six years, i hated wearning those damn things. the tightening elastics and headgear were maddening painful. i remember not being able to eat stuff because my teeth hurt so much.
