Well when you lose the trust of gamers for a few years, you can't expect them to believe you all of a sudden (in my humble opinion)
Then why post on here?

If you don't trust IGN's general reviews fair enough, but there's no point posting stuff like (paraphrased) "They must be wrong because it's IGN" as though one person reviews all the games on their site...

The destructoid article was written far better honestly and I actually got something out of it, I would just go check that one out instead.

This is disappointing I was looking forward to Brink. I will wait a while longer until I decide to buy it or not.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion of course, but you do realize that the reviewer reviewed a multiplayer game before it came out, by saying the campaign isn't that great and playing online with bots. With. Bots. And then complaining that it's not really entertaining. Well duh!

Guys, rent it if you have to, but make your own opinion of the game.

Implying I ever listen to reviewers... (herp, give me money and I give your game a 9.5, derp I got owned in my first match so it sucks)

P.S. I already pre-orderd Brink in 2010 and I'm going to enjoy the crap out of it.

Already ordered, parents getting it for my birthday. I need a good TF2 game for my Xbox since no-one on Xbox plays TF2 any more, so I'm gonna still get it and remain an optimist

So again, why are you even posting here?

If they played the multi-player game with bots, so did the reviewers who gave the game a high score. Or more likely they were given review copies and played the game on the developers version of Xbox Live / at LAN events. There's no way Splash Damage would let any outlet put a review out there without playing the multi-player extensively.

In fact, according to the Destructoid review the game has nothing but the MP to live off anyway:

"You may be fooled into thinking otherwise, but Brink has no true single-player feature. Its "Campaign" mode is a series of multiplayer matches that can simply be played offline against an incongruously oppressive AI. Even worse, the ally AI has apparently been scaled back, and never seem able to win against the enemy. In fact, Splash Damage's campaign is so flimsy that you can even set it to "Versus," which will allow other players to join and effectively turn it into an exact replica of the online mode. The campaign shouldn't even exist, it's so close to being an illusion."

I wonder how Yahtzee would review it then?

I didn't expect the game to get smashing reviews or anything(looks pretty meh to me), but 6? I can't believe it. Not a chance.

EDIT: Oh, right. The poll. No, I wasn't planning on getting it anyway.

Been playing Brink for the last couple hours, and I have to say I quite like it.

The only real problem with it, IMO, is that it desperately needs a tutorial of some kind to cover all of the objectives, movement/parkour abilities and whatnot.

I'm not saying believe the good reviews and discard the bad reviews. I linked to good reviews to balance out the OP's post, acting like the game was critically panned, which is not what is happening for the moment. I'm saying make your own opinion of the game.

Yahtzee is amazing, and I'm sad to say I'm a bit of a fanboy, but his videos are pure entertainment. If you listened to him, you would probably only play Silent Hill 2, Prince of Persia, and Saints Row 2

Just spent the past 3 hours playing it, and I must say it's pretty good so far. The campaign is actually pretty interesting and the challenges are, appropriately enough, challenging. Also, thank the maker, a PC FPS with lean! my old friend, how I have missed you so.

I haven't actually played any MP yet, but I'm waiting till tomorrow (today...) when people are actually all on. So far, my only real complaints are that the classes really play just about identical to each other, and that it feels like the health boost you get from the "heavy" body is just plain pitiful when you consider how much speed you give up, even compared to the medium body. Other than that, the gameplay itself is tight, the customization is just as deep as it was promised to be, the art style is awesome....really, so far the good outweighs the bad by a mile. Can't wait to wake up tomorrow and play some more, hopefully with some of my steam friends.

No you're not; you're questioning [incorrectly], the validity of a review that gave the game a low score. And it's the second outlet you've done that to on this thread alone. And reviews exist to inform and allow people to judge, after looking at the spread of reviews, when compared to the rest of the shooter market people should be able to tell, pretty quickly, that Brink is a shooter devoid of content with a number of poor design decisions that is still a fun game.

I doubt anyone has the time or money to rent every game they might be interested in buying.

I wasn't planning on picking it up anyway right away, probably will bargain bin it later. I would wait for the review here or by Blistered Thumbs before I formulate an opinion.
your going to formulate your opinion after reading someone elses opinion

are you really that dense
Well, it's either that or blindly purchase a game because there isn't a demo. I trust the opinion of Angry Joe and Zeitgeist Reviews because my opinion has coincided with them for the large majority of games that I have gotten that they have reviewed. If there was a demo I would play that and form my own, but there isn't, and there are no plans. I'm not going to throw anything more then $10 at it in a couple of years if I have no idea what I'm purchasing.

Coming from the man who can't use punctuation or use the correct version of YOU'RE, supreme irony..........Don't be unpleasant on these forums please

OT: it looks like a pretty cool game, it'd be a shame if it wasn't up to scratch.

A 6 out of 10 is above average.
You'd have to be very naive to beleive that.
It is. People have convinced themselves that anything below a 8 is terrible. I regularly purchase games with lukewarm reviews (Hyper Dimension Neptunia, Record of Agarest War) and enjoy the heck out of them.
