Over compensating 'men'?
Yes, Over compensating men.

Sorry, Did I give you the impression I was talking about the actors? No. I was referring to the Audience. I said it was FOR over compensating men, not BY over compensating men.

It is a Soap opera, that's all it is, except "Manly men who are men" would balk at watching a soap opera so they fill it with violence to disguise the fact that they're watching a soap opera. Poorly.

And it's not even that good in terms of pro-wrestling, I know people who are fans of Pro-wrestling and even THEY don't like the British versions.

Nobody wants to watch it, and it is no better than the crap already on television anyway, So putting it on television would do exactly jack shit to up the quality. All it would do is make people change the channel.

And i'm sorry but I don't give a shit about ANYTHING purely for the fact that "It comes out of my country". So what? We're pretty good at spreading chlamydia and getting far too worked up about football too, Should I be tearing up and humming the National anthem the next time I hear about some football firm has burned a car?

If the entire Pro-wrestling circuit in Britain went under tomorrow nothing of value would be lost.

Why do you care anyway? Just watch your uber-niche drama series and stop acting like everyone else ought to consider it as brilliant as you.

Oh no, deary me only QI, Doctor Who (Not Torchwood, Torchwood sucks), Sherlock, Being Human, That Mitchell and Webb Look (or equivalent), Have I Got News For You, Live at the Apollo, The Office/Extras/Whatever Rick Gervais is making at the moment, Swansea beating Man City without needing to spend billions of pounds, Top Gear, Spooks .... and so on.

I feel so trapped, if only I could watch some bad drama or two men punching each other I'd be able to get over having the best and most original groundbreaking shows in the world to watch

I'm guessing most people have already said what I am going to say:

I don't like wrestling. Also, I am very disconcerted that you were willing to say such a thing about Top Gear!

Honestly I am not a big fan of television as a whole now. However when I did watch television more often, the main shows I were watching were British shows.

Good is subjective. Although, I think your friends are a bunch of turncoats...
As a wrestling fan myself, I take offense to the idea that wrestling is on the same level as a soap opera.
Soap Operas are deliberately mediocre schedule fillers, written by committee and network mandate, for the sole purpose of distracting Daytime TV watchers.
Pro Wrestling requires a degree of craftsmanship and finely honed skill.
By and large, in regard to Britain's pro wrestling, you DON'T see much in the way of melodramatic story lines. While I do agree that a the majority of wrestling fans are male, I still say there are almost as many female fans. I'd say that that the sheer athletic spectacle is the main draw.
Please, don't use that crappy 'WTF' episode of South Park as a reference point.

Im British and I consciously gave up watching TV back in 2000 because I just thought that the vast majority of it was really bad now my personal tv cant even get broadcast programs and it really dosent bother me, it would take something huge to get me to start watching again I just have a much better time expending my time reading, playing games occassionally watching films improving my skills at chosen hobbies and studying what I choose to study.

The wrestling could be of the highest standard but generally although they may impress me in some ways they dont usually entertain me same with boxing really (or any sport actually).

British TV could likely be improved by cutting down on reruns of subpar american comedies, the systematic execution of everybody who perpetuates the presence of reality tv, and the re-hiring of some actual fucking writers.

Jaded. Angry. Grumble.

This said I watch things online and play games, mostly because British TV is shit.

Only thing I can say is... Well, no I cannot say anything, so... Take it away Bender!

I was going to make a post about how English television is arguably in a better state than American television and maybe some other places, but then I saw this post and I went "hmm..yeah that's more or less what I was gonna say"
Yeah, even though it is mostly crap, I'd say it's still better than American, deue to the fact there is still some good stuff on the BBC *cough cough* QI *cough cough*.

so let me get this straight, you want professioanl wrestling, on the BBC, ITV, dave, or other UK based channel(s)

no, just no. why? because it gets old doubleplus quick. seeing guys in spandex with lurid coluring attack each other doesn't hold the attention of your average brit for long, i should know as i bump into them on a daily basis.

so basically, you're advocation isn't a popular one, and even if it did make it's way to british screens, it wouldn't stay on long because of the inevitible backlash from long time viewers.

Wrestling really does nothing for me, black mirror however actually gets me slightly aroused thinking about how awesome it is.
This, if you replace 'aroused' with 'excited'.

The pig episode.. No, just no. It was too awkward.

There are the few occasional gems on TV that I watch, but other than that, most of the stuff on TV is shit. It?s just a slew of endless reality TV (although "fantasy TV" would be more appropriate), pretentious cookery shows and exploitative rubbish that only fuels my unabated hatred of humanity (half-kidding). I'm not a fan of wrestling; sweaty hypermasculine men (and women, and no, it's not attractive) rolling around the floor with each other in an overly dramatic staged match is about as entertaining to me a

Also, fuck you, X Factor. Fuck you for corrupting our children's minds into thinking that all they need to be successful is enter a "talent" show, tell some blatantly fake sob story about a relative dying and have some retarded gimmick that only the lowest common denominator would find remotely entertaining. Fuck you for raking in so much money and using utterly despicable people like Cheryl Cole who don't even know talent themselves. Fuck you for dominating our media with your publicity stunts. And fuck you for feeding lies to these naive idealists and then passing them off to be poorly handled by record companies.

Wresting is reality TV in which the middle aged women are replaced by sweating half-naked men.

Neither appeal to me.

A show about a group of middle aged men gawking about cars like teenagers?
Leave Top Gear alone. especially since you're advocating pro wrestling, which if anything, is more immature and pandering than Top Gear ever was.

Leave my boys alone.
Prove it. Prove that pro wrestling, based off the clips I've provided, is more immature than some 50 something year old man making GTA jokes while driving around like he just got his license.

That is all.
If they start shooting wrestlers into space we can talk again.

I admit, there have been a metric F' ton of good British TV shows, more so than almost any American network can lay claim to. But let's look at everything that's come inbetween:
Celebrity Big Brother, Hollyoaks, Brittania High, Whatever, Casualty, Eastenders, everything involving Michael Parkinson ever (except ghostwatch).
Just a cursory watching of screenwipe is all the evidence I really need, to see that you guys need something different.
Besides why is pro wrestling so bad? Did you watch the FWA clip I posted?
It's just a very important part of the cultural legacy that you've left the world, and I don't like seeing it be ignored by the very people from whence it came.
I was on Casulty... for that reason alone it is now a godly programme.

Also, wrestling!? Seriously...? NO!

I'd rather spoon my eyes out with a rusty tea-cup... Who cares whether we contributed to it as a country, or whether we are good at it... if it's not worth watching, it is not worth watching! For all I know we could be the world champions at boules/lawn-bowls too[footnote]Looked it up... we are![/footnote], but that doesn't make me want to watch that!

If we need more good stuff on TV brink back stuff like Spooks, Black Books and Spaced...

Or if we need more sport then Rugby! Hell... even Gladiators was better than damn Wrestling...! At least Gladiators was real, and had actual competition!

I don't even watch TV anymore... I discovered anime after all XD

Plus y'know the TV quality went down fast. Not as bad as the US, but still pretty shocking. And wresting is not my thing unless it's this.

Doctor Who, Top Gear, Dirk Gently, Sherlock, Star Gate... things like that are good to watch because their entire existence is for entertainment.

Britain's Got talent, X Factor, The Voice - Piss off. You're boring, trivialising, fabricated pieces of shit.

I just finished watching HBO's Band of Brothers & The Pacific on DVD and fuck me, were they good! TV needs more stuff like that... and Doctor Who... and Star Gate. Bring back Star Gate! Fuck SyFy UK's new shit.

Sorry for swearing, but TV programs are almost as bad as most adverts now. Rephrase: Are as bad in some cases (Dancing on Ice, X Factor).

Man, wasn't ECW great?
It's even where Christopher Daniels made his US tv debut!
