Bulbasaur definitely, only because it made the first three gyms painfully easy.
Screw getting a Charmander, and having to catch a Catapie, and level it up to a Butterfree in order to have a fighting chance to beat Brock and his Onyx. Damn Metapods and your hardens...

I've always been a Bulbasaur guy, and a Bulbasaur guy I shall stay. Yes, he's good against the first 3 bosses but I always identified more with Bulbasaur in the cartoon as well. He was loyal, protective, and always reliable. Can't beat that in my book.
Charmander and Squirtle are neck in neck at the time I'm posting this.
Realistically, Charmander wins everything. It's a fucking dragon that breath's fire. Sure, squirtle can shoot water out, but what's that gonna do?

The Charmander family are among my favorite pokemon of all time. I love Bulbasaur, I really do, but at the end of the day, my heart always belongs to Charmander. We've been bros. since the very beginning. Plus, he's a dragon.
...I never understood why people want the most powerfull of them all...
I want the coolest, that i can relate more with... the one i can see growing bonds and even if he is the weakest, i will try to make him stronger, and even when things look grim me and that pokemon would battle till the end.
Theres no most powerfull of them all in my opinion. Theres only those you like, dislike, or consider fuck!ng awesome.

Charmander. Because fire is the best type for starters due to it's rarity everywhere else. Plus since its weak against the first two gym leaders it forces you to train it even harder, making a much tougher team and especially a tougher Charmander/Charmeleon. The strongest steel is always forged in the hottest fire!
Bulbasaur/Venusaur.
Weather teams are really in, and with Chlorophyll, he's probably the best Sun sweeper around. Add a slew of utility moves (toxic, sleep powder, leech seed). And even before gen 5 and the dream world abilities, Venusaur was dominating the shit out of UU.
Blastoise is an average bulky water.
And Charizard is just sad.

A turtle with high powered water cannons? Hello, I'm a fricken DRAGON.
On a more serious bent, Charizard has the best speed, attack, and special. Which means from yellow version on he can take care of everything with fire or flying. No one can beat him if they can't catch him.
