You're walking down the street and you come across a house which is on fire. You are unaware if the proper authorities have been alerted. You see a small child, a rich old person, and a beautiful woman yelling for help from the window. You estimate that you only have time to rescue one of them 2 of them before the house collapses. Which two do you save and why?

Neither. I save the building by 'rescuing' the fire.

(Those of you who've read the Discworld novel I'm referencing should now be laughing.)

Well considering that you know the rich person is rich, then you would know that person that would heavily influence any further decision you make.

Neither. I call 911 and alert them that a house is burning down, but I'm to big of a coward to risk my life for someone else. I'd then probably walk away from the horrific scene and try to forget that someone might be dying because I have no spine.

And now I feel like a huge wimp.

I would call 911. Then depending on the situation, I would try to douse the fire. If I cant, and the building isnt that bad, I would try save them all. If I had to save 2, I would save the woman and the kid. The old man has lived the longest, he has experianced life more, and he dosnt have more more. Although that depends how old he is.

The woman & Man, Then the child can jump & We'd catch him.

Although If i HAD to pick two it'd be the child & woman.

Woman and child. Old person probably has less time left in his/her life anyway, and woman and child can still live full lives (hopefully).

realistically i wouldnt be running into a burning building to save anyone who was a stranger to me. That might be cold but if they cant escape on there own then chances are there isnt much i would be able to do to help.

None of them.
The window is on the first floor, and open. They're obviously just too lazy too climb out. I will however loot their corpses. Oblivion taught me that. Always loot corpses.

Golems are so useful in that regard... ;D

Anyway, I'd save the child and the young woman. Partly because the woman would be extremely grateful to me for saving her life ;D, but also because they, being the younger people, have more to live for. I'd save the old person as well if I had time, but they'd be coming to the end of their life anyway so it wouldn't be the best option, I don't think.
