Im fairly sure its a choice, i mean no one forces you to wear EXTREMELY tight jeans and resond to everything with 'Super fabulousssss!'
Well no, but it might feel much more natural than not doing so.

It is weird! I make fun of my friends ALL THE TIME for being camp! But every now and again, there is a right time for it, and there's no choice, so I put MOST OF THE TIME. But I do think its creepy, because it can make guys look gay when they're not. I'm not trying to setup a gay debate here, I'm just saying that if you're camp all the time you seem gay. (NOT THAT THAT'S BAD) kthx

Wait? You mean acting Metrosexual and theres nothing wrong with it. If anything it is a good change since it teaches better hygine on it's own. Just because you don't do what sterotypical men do, dosen't make you any less of a man.

Also, I do belive that it is a choice. You're not changing your sexual prefrence or anything of that sort. You're just changing the way you live life and that is a choice of prefrence.

Ohhhhh, here in Aus we call those metros. I find it a bit off really, but maybe that's because I only give the most basic attention to hygiene and I believe in being, A MANLY MAN!

Camp? Oh shiz. My friend and I have this thing where we randomly break into girl talk with all the hand-motions just for fun in class. So far, it has provided lulz to an otherwise average Bio period. No, neither of us gay. We're both hetereo-sexual guys with girlfriends. So yeah, I'm okay with it.

Wait....what's 'camp'. ...Oh, metrosexual, I'm not sure if guys acting feminine is a choice as I've never seen it but it sounds difficult to fake. But metrosexual just seems to be a fashion choice so that doesn't sound very weird.

It's a matter of personality. It's not really a choice, if it's really them the only choice is whether or not they tone it down, and to what severity they do so.

I can be considered a camp (never heard that term before) and its just the way I am.

I don't want to be the big tough alpha male and I like being a bit more feminine.
Being 'camp' is what people think of when they think of the stereotypical gay man. Unless you're gay, you're not camp. You're just not suffering from testosterone overload.

Being camp is a British term and it refers to the stereotypical gay man. You know, with the limp wrists and the lisp and calling everyone 'honey'??

Basically it's bullshit saying that it's not natural. Why would someone change their whole personality to purposely be victimised?

Your friend needs a good slap

Oh, thank god, I thought this was another thread about people who camp in multiplayer.

OT: Yeah, most of the time I've come across camp people it seems to have been more their choice.

well this is a stupid-ass nature nurture question.

acting camp like any behavioural activity could have any number of causes or reasons behind it, whether it's a choice or otherwise and trying to debate or call in a general opinion on whether it's one or the other just seems to reek of naivety.

but then what do I know I'm intent on sounding obnoxious in blowing off this topic.

i voted no by accident because i'm a retard, but yeah of course it's a choice to act like a pansy. if there's one thing that annoys me it's gay men who decide they have to act camp because of their sexuality. it's just a plea for attention.

oh and yes i know camp straight guys. they are neither better nor worse than camp homosexuals.

It's a choice. You act how you want, and you can control it when you need to. People need to learn to control their emotions, and nobody will object to how they act.

I reckon it is a choice.
Its just the way I rationalise it; the way I see it campness is not a natural accent, its not like there is a location in the world where everybody speaks 'camp'. So it shouldn't come about as a natural way someone learns to speak the language.

It kinda irritates me too.

no i dont think its a choice.... however how camp people are..... is another matter.... people who are camp generally are that way because when they were growing up they had many female role models and picked up several femenine characteristics...

however... i am gay but i am not camp at all.. but when i am trying to emphasise to someone that i am gay i turn on the camp a bit...

i think most camp people cant help it... but some (and i mean very few) are just acting it.

I think this is the wrong place to ask this mate, we're all outwardly hetrosexual 40-something lady-killers here, with muscles as big as Brazil.

Now, i'mma gonna go drink whiskey and spit *hurk*...

EDIT: Okay, everyone that is, EXCEPT the guy above me in this thread ¬_¬
