Poll: Can you tell time on a "regular" clock?

I can pretty easily. However, I'm far more likely to just estimate the time when I'm using analogue over digital. You know, saying "Half past" or "Quarter of" etc etc. Though I'm guessing this is because my analogue watch runs a little fast, so any more accurate than that I tend to be wrong :/

Most of the time. It certainly takes longer than a digital, though.

I own an analog watch. I've always worn analog watches so I have no difficulty telling the time that way. In all honesty, I don't think Digital watches were all that popular when I was a kid. Even had one with out any numbers on it.

That being said I'm not all that surprised that someone can't use an analog watch, my brother once had to teach his ex how to tell time on both a digital and analog watch....

I can't believe a 20-year-old can't read a fucking clock. Its only hard when you're younger because you've only just learnt numbers anyway.

I have met some of those people and it always confuses me how they can't read the analog clock, it's not that hard but apparently it is. I've even had an analog clock in my room since I was 6 so I grew up able to read them.

I can read analog very easily. I never had problems with clock even when I was very young. I have a pocket watch. It's great to have on my study desk though sometimes the ticking can get to me.

I pride myself as one of the few people at my school who can. Which means I'm asked to tell it a lot, because all of our clocks are analog. I don't understand, weren't they supposed to learn this in like, 3rd grade or something?

I find it's easier to read an analogue than a 24 hour clock. If the time is 16:33 then it takes a second to realise "Oh, it's 25 to 5."

Like everyone I know, I can read analogue clocks. However, it normally takes me a good 10 seconds to work out. Digital clocks aren't very aesthetically pleasing to look at though.

Hmm. I wonder if you could mod a PC case to have a ball clock inside?

And by "regular" clocks, I'm talking the ones with the hands and the round faces, like Big Ben.

I'm sorry but my little "OCD and pedantic" senses are going wild, but Big Ben is actually the name of the bell inside the clock, not the clock itself.

On topic though, yes, I can read all clocks, and for a while in our spare room, my dad had a ball bearing clock

Why yes, I actually knew that from the Art History class I took last year :3 However, in normal conversation, the name "Big Ben" is most often used to refer to the clock and not the bell, so in order to avoid confusion and unnecessary explanations I used it in that way.

Well, my wrist-watch is analogue, so yes. I'm also astounded when people can't tell time on an analogue clock.
I do greatly prefer digital though.

I prefer Digital because it's easier to read, I don't want to have to piece together what the damn time is! But I can read analogue clocks just fine.

I prefer analog and except for my alarm clock, every clock in the house is analog. What I don't like is those with roman numerals that do four wrong. Most clocks put IIII instead of IV. It drives me batty. I don't know why.

Really? I have never seen a clock face do that.

i can tell the time with only 2 rocks and a string. all joking aside i have meet one person who could not but he was a junior in a freshmen math class so not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I'm not sure we were taught how to read analog clocks at school.
