I'll admit that I like the idea of heroes being accountable for the things they do, but that doesn't mean I like the idea of every powered individual in the country forced to be on the government's payroll. Especially Psychics. The way they went about it in the comics was so damn vile that I couldn't support them even if I wanted to. They attacked Cap! That's the first thing they did! Captain America didn't ask for the fight, Hill and Stark did.

And then there's the fact that, instead of watching and arresting these powered individuals if they break the law, they decide that everyone either joins or goes to jail. The only way this would be like Gun Control is if gun owners were forced to join the army if they wanted a gun. Hell, in most cases these heroes got their powers accidentally. Spider-Man didn't ask for that spider to bite him, after all. The type of discrimination the SHRA asked for was terrible.

The film seems to be giving the pro-registration side a much better cause for their actions. A better reason for them to fight one another. So I'll have to wait and see.

From what I've been hearing they've done a really good job of making everyone "right", and that if your opinion doesn't change at least once or twice throughout the movie it is because you've stubbornly decided which side you're staying on no matter what.

But really, the way I see it is that something needs to be in place to keep individual supers in check and to contain them if they cause the kind of problems they're capable of causing, but they also need a way to keep the government in check, so I wasn't so much saying that Stark would or wouldn't go rogue, just that he recognizes neither are infallible and would place himself on whatever side of a conflict he believes is in the best interest of humanity and not allow himself to be some political or military tool in someone's pursuit of power.

Well, we know even from the spoiler-free descriptions now that that's not the case. He's signing himself up to be such a tool. This, we've since learned, is actually Captain America's objection.

The problem is Tony's like a guy who keeps hitting his wife and then feeling really bad about it afterwards.

I won't be at all surprised to find Mr Accountability breaking the rules within Civil War. He'll say we need to be held accountable and then do something that flies right in the face of that. He practically can't help himself. And then he'll sober up, look at the bruises, and be all "my god, what have I done?" again.

Holy crap. Called it. Not only does he go rogue on Bucky and Cap, but he decides to ignore the escape of his friends. He's ostensibly on the government's side, but willing to violate that for personal reasons.

And I understand the bit about Bucky killing his parents. Not saying I'd try and murder my friend and his sidekick over it, but I get why he'd change his mind. But he went to war to hold Cap's side accountable, and while still working with the government, he turns a blind eye to their escape. And I'm not sure this is the best interest of humanity. I think this is the best interest of Stark.

Oh, and also he explicitly doesn't care that Bucky wasn't in control. That's not justice or the best interest of humanity. That's vengeance, and the guy who preached accountability for others deciding to murder someone.

Also, what he advocates with Scarlet Witch is totally not cool.

Its not like the government is going to abuse this power more so then what the Avengers done already, Oh wait...

Look its true that they need to be controlled, but doing it by the UN...just..just no. They will abuse the hell out of it and like Cap said. What if they are sent somewhere where they have no business at all? What if they aren't sent somewhere cause the Governments don't want to deal with the problem?

Very true, or at least someone they trust to bring them in if they overboard. Cause really, I would be more worried about the Government having control anything else. Look at the General acted when they told Bucky was innocent. They ignore it and didn't give a shit.
