Cartoon Network, back when there were actually cartoons instead of real people.

CN because of Ed, Edd and Eddy
This, and Detxer's Laboratory. I can't remember if Nickelodeon had to many good shows, becuase now all they show is Spongebob.
Both of these. And Johnny Bravo, Courage the Cowardly Dog... good lineup.

Makes me sad that they've both all but cancelled all that made us love them in the 90s and early 2000s. Courage the Cowardly Dog, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, Rocko's Modern Life, Aaah! Real Monsters, I miss these shows terrible.

Well despite the fact that possibly my favourite cartoon (Fosters home for imaginary friends) is a proud resident of Cartoon Network I'm going to have to side with Nickelodeon. It's got more shows, more variety and it doesn't seem so...aged.

Hate them both. AND Disney Channel
what did you watch when you were a kid then?
I watched these channels and they had good cartoons until a few years ago (Im 15 so not ages since I watched it). Suddenly they only showed bad cartoons and thats sad.

Nick had/has Invader Zim one of the best cartoon series ever made and Avatar also pretty damn good, but the rest is kinda shit so mostly Cartoon, some reasons the edds, Samurai Jack and the rest is way better than Nicks other shows, although Cartoon also has some solid shit.

I picked CN but only for its early incarnation when they still showed classic toons like The Herculoids/Space Ghost, Johnny Quest (the original!), and Thundarr but Barbarian.

Now I only watch it once [adult swim] comes on as the rest is rather crappy (though I did like Chowder, fun stories and a really different art style.)

Nick is half SpongeBob marathons, half tweenie shows (which get switched back and forth with Disney's tweenie shows by my 10-year-old daughter. *ugh*.)

On the whole I've always preferred cartoon network (probably because I didn't have cable as a child during what seems to be the golden age of cable cartoons) but my favorite cartoon of all time, even despite seeing it while I was waaaaaay out of its target demographic, is Avatar: The Last Airbender.

As a kid (i.e 6-12) I preferred Nick, and since it had Avatar: The Last Airbender it gets my vote. Not that I'm putting Cartoon Network down, though, since that was one of the things I watched most.

Edit: I consider Cartoon Network and Adult Swim as separate things despite being on the same channel. If I was considering them the same thing (same channel, but otherwise separate entities) and going by which I currently prefer, they would win hands down.

CN back when it used to play good Cartoons

This pretty much sums up my opinion. Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, Courage The Cowardly Dog, 2 Stupid Dogs, Batman: The Animated Series & I Am Weasel.

It was all so great but now.

I'll admit, Cartoon Network was my knee-jerk response given Toonami and Adult Swim, but I've got to give the edge to Nickelodeon, between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Adventures of Pete & Pete (okay, not a cartoon, but close enough), Nickelodeon has mastered the art of creating programs ultimately aimed at children yet don't feel like it (and that's a pretty tough thing to do).

As awesome as the old CN was, Nick made Avatar. So I voted for Nick. Plus when I was in Jr. High Nick had "You Can't Do That On Television", which was awesome.
