I don't remember that second part. Probably censored out of the Boomerang version of the show if I tried to watch it anyway.

Modern cartoons are shit.

I pity the children of today who only have shit like Spongebob to watch & no classics like Count Duckula, Wacky Racers, He-Man or Thundercats.

I know you could argue that I shouldn't think modern cartoons are good, since they're made for children & shouldn't appeal to an adult, but they're still shit.
Have you tried watching most of that stuff today? It doesn't hold up well over time, most of them are repetively formulaic and sluggishly boring.

I think the reason high quality cartoons are dieing is because they are all trying to teach kids everything about life. They even state what the show is supposed to teach kids befor it starts. It looks like at some point someone just said that kids shows can't be to entertain kids anymore, every single one has to teach the same lesson over and over agian.

I still watch Jamie and the Magic Torch, Bagpuss, Powerpuff Girls and, of course, Looney Tunes and they're still made of win.

I challenge ANYONE not to applaud after watching The Cat Concerto [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rWFRedCFXdE] or Cue Ball Cat [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eM_Pbp6racQ].

There are good modern cartoons, it's just with such a massive amount to choose from, of course you're going to get some shit.

A selection of good cartoons from the last few years: Dexter's Lab, Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy, Johnny Bravo, Invader Zim, Fairly Odd Parents, Dave The Barbarian and others I can't remember right now.

No, cartoons are not dieing, you just have to know where to look.

The new cartoon "The Secret Saturdays" on Cartoon Network is pretty damn cool. Also, "Ben 10: Alien Force" is very awesome. On the other hand the new "Transformers:Animated" is an abortion that should be shoved back in the the hole from where it came. I downloaded every old G1 Transformers cartoon for my 9 year old daughter just to show her why the new cartoon sucks a dead monkey's choad.

I am also hoping that Harmony Gold continues along with the success of Robotech:The Shadow Chronicles. That shit was AWESOME!!! I just wish they would ditch the 3d part and hand draw the space mech battle again. :( That is my only slight against it.

I miss Looney Tunes.
Finally, someone else!
I will third that one. But only the old school uncut/unrated Looney Tunes. Totally un-PC and totally hilarious!

Invader Zim, Dave the Barbarian, Phineas and Ferb (sometimes. Most of the time it is pretty formulic), and Avatar are all good. Unfortunatly, most of those are cancelled or finished.

Yeah, maybe the end for the kids. But a decent portion of my DVR recording is stuff from Adult Swim, or otherwise on Comedy Central. But for the old school stuff like G.I. Joe and Gargoyles? Yeah, I haven't seen stuff like that for kids in a long time.
Oh my god! Someone else who saw Gargoyles! I always thought i was the only one.

I miss Ahh! Real Monsters, The Angry Beavers, and Invader Zim (though that was relatively modern and I watched it because I read JTHM...). The stuff out now is... disheartening, for the most part. There are some gems (Avatar), but otherwise it's really sad.

Except I DO like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends... And ChalkZone, a few years back, tickled me a bit.

I don't count the more "mature" cartoons, like Futurama, Family Guy, etc in this category...

edit: Gargoyles! Oh man! Saturday mornings with that, Spider-Man, and X-Men... oh, to be young...

Yes Gargoyles rocked. And had a lot of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation doing the voices.

Odds are I'm going to be beaten to death for asking this but what was Gargoyles about? I never did see it as a kid, too busy watching something else at the time.

There is actually a Biker Mice From Mars DS game.

I wondered how the hell they managed to do that.

I went ahead and just got the plot off Wikipedia, mostly because I'm sleepy. All that matters, though, it is was amazing.

The series features a clan of six nocturnal creatures known as Gargoyles that turn to stone during the day. They glide using large wings and age twice as slowly as humans, living twice as long because they are stone during daylight hours, even when not directly exposed to sunlight. Their leader is Goliath and his mentor is the elder gargoyle named Hudson. The others are three younger warriors named Brooklyn, Broadway and Lexington. There is also a dog-like beast without wings named Bronx.

In 994 A.D. on the coast of Scotland the six clan members, along with several dozen unnamed gargoyles and Goliath's female gargoyle love, later named Demona, protect Castle Wyvern and Princess Katherine along with many other Scots from Viking raiders until betrayal causes a massacre of the clan during their stone sleep (when they cannot defend themselves). Believing the gargoyles to be the cause of death for the princess, a magician called the Magus casts a spell on the six survivors putting them to sleep, day and night, using a spell that loosely translates to "Sleep, until the castle rises above the clouds."

In 1994, a billionaire named David Xanatos purchases the castle and moves the crumbling remains, piece by piece, to the top of his New York City skyscraper called The Eyrie Building. The magic spell is broken when the castle is literally placed "above the clouds" due to the skyscraper's height and Xanatos acquires the Magus' original book of spells called the Grimorum Arcanorum. Awakening in modern day Manhattan, the gargoyles must adapt to their new surroundings as they vow to protect the citizens of New York. Goliath befriends a detective of the NYPD named Elisa Maza and stops Xanatos from creating an army of robotic gargoyles after Demona returns, having somehow survived the 1000 years as well. She attempts to destroy them all but is stopped and Xanatos is arrested by the police for theft. The Gargoyles secret existence is kept safe with Elisa as they remain at the castle to protect New York City from various hostile forces.

You may as well just YouTube it. I'm sure it's on there, and watching it would do a 1000% better job of explaining the plot.
